The Craley Community Fire Company will sponsor its annual New Year’s Day Shoot on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. The doors and kitchen will be open at 1 p.m. The first two rounds will be for meat prizes. The Nifty Needles Knitting Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m. at Columbia Public Library, 24 S. Sixth St., Columbia. The instructors are Molly Caldwell and Gaile Morrison. A Homeschool Series for students ages 5 to 13 will be offered from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. Topics will include “River Erosion” on Jan. 15, “Nature Journaling” on Feb. 19, “Bees and Pollinators” on March 19, “Harnessing the Wind” on April 16, and “Mayflies, Dragonflies, and Fireflies, Oh My” on May 21. 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, will offer a six-week program, “Journey From Grief to Healing,” on Tuesdays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The program is open to anyone experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. The Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center will be closed through Thursday, Dec. 27, and will reopen on Friday, Dec. 28, and Saturday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will close again on Sunday, Dec. 30, and will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019. Ringing In The New Year With Father Time By Chelsea Peifer
Music, mascots, crafts, games, and a cascade of balloons are just a few of the fun things planned for New Year’s Eve at Noon at the National Watch and Clock Museum, 514 Poplar St., Columbia. Children and families are invited to ring in 2019 - just a dozen hours early - with Father Time at the fourth annual celebration, set to take place at the museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. “This is a fun event geared toward kids and their families,” said Abby Krouse, museum admissions and store manager. “There are lots of activities, and everyone always enjoys the countdown and balloon drop at 12 o’clock, which for our event is noon (instead of midnight).” See Museum pg 5

“What I love about ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ is that you can come to this show and just enjoy,” said Heather Grayberg, who will both direct and choreograph the Lancaster Bible College (LBC) winter presentation. “(‘Birdie’ is) super fun, kitschy, loud, bright, and silly in a lot of ways.” “Bye Bye Birdie,” is a Tony Award-winning musical that first played on Broadway in 1960.
