Foraging - Wild Roots will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Horn Farm Center, 4945 Horn Road, York, on Saturday, Nov. 9. The program will demonstrate the process for taking items from root to coffee, and participants will sample a taste. There is a fee to participate. Eastern York Recreation Authority (EYRA) invites those age 12 and older to try Zumba. Instructor Bev Frederick will lead Zumba classes at the Lower Windsor Township gymnasium, located on the lower level of the township building, 2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville, on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning Nov. 13. No preregistration is required. Participants may pay a set fee per class at the door or purchase a punch card for 10 classes, valid for any of the instructor’s classes at any location. The Gen. John H. Michaelis Chapter 327 of the Korean War Veterans Association will meet at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Eagle Commons of Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. The meeting will include a free luncheon. The speaker, Lt. Col. Timothy M. Zerbe, will present “The Current Training Model of the U.S. Army and ANG and Lessons Learned From the Korean War.” Membership in the KWVA is open to all men and women who served in Korea at any time from 1945 to the present or were in uniform serving anywhere from June 25, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955. St. James Lutheran Plans Pork And Sauerkraut Meal Library Friends By Chelsea Peifer

The congregation of St. James Lutheran Church, 655 S. 10th St., Columbia, has been hosting an annual pork and sauerkraut dinner for the community for nearly 40 years. This year’s event is set to take place at the church on Saturday, Nov. 16. Meals will be served family-style from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the church social hall. In addition to pork and sauerkraut, the menu will include mashed potatoes, a dinner roll, applesauce, and beverages. Attendees will also have their choice of various homemade desserts. Separate admission prices have been set for adults and for children ages 4 to 10. Children age 3 and under may eat for free. Takeout options will also be available. The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library have announced their selection of Sean Clark as the 2019 honoree for their annual Honors Reception. The Friends will recognize Clark for his outstanding dedication to education, libraries, and the community during a ceremony and reception at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. The public is invited to attend the event, which will be held at Historic Ashland, 6219 Lincoln Highway, Wrightsville. Clark founded York Independents Inc. in 2001 to help others access knowledge and strategies to help secure their financial future. Originally trained as an engineer, Clark said the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, awakened a desire in him to find a way to more closely help the people in his community, and he changed his focus to financial services. Wrightsville To Host Veterans Day Recognition

Born to Be Different (B2BD) Productions, a local youth theater company, will present the comedy “Backstage: The Musical” on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17, in Landis Hall at the Junction Center, 1875 Junction Road, Manheim. Set in the 1920s, the show brings to light the things that can go hilariously awry in theater when eternal optimist Violet Davies, portrayed by Paris Black, and levelheaded Angelo Finley, portrayed by Tyler Yarbrough, team up to attempt to produce a successful show. “Backstage: The Musical” was written by Eliana Kreider, 19, who has See B2BD Productions pg 4

Area residents are invited to join Historic Wrightsville Inc. and American Legion Post 469 for a community Veterans Day recognition service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, on the porch at the Historic Wrightsville Museum, 309 Locust St., Wrightsville. Veterans are encouraged to attend and will receive a token of appreciation for their service.
