GOTR To Screen Film Focused On Anxiety Free Link To Connect Families To “Angst” BY ANN MEAD ASH

Sarah Yohe, development director with Girls on the Run (GOTR), has an analogy concerning the different types and levels of anxiety people are feeling in relation to the pandemic. “We are all in the same storm, but we all have our own individual boats with their own holes in them that we are trying to keep plugged to stay afloat,” she said. To address that anxiety and provide a service to Lancaster-area GOTR members, the organization is providing a free link to the film “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety” Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 8 to 10. The initial live event will begin at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8. “The GOTR team will open up the evening by sharing our mission and our reasons for hosting this event,” said Yohe. Following the opener, the 56-minute documentary will be shown, and then a live, half-hour discussion with approximately four panel members from related fields, such as psychology and pediatrics, will be held. Audience members will be able to submit questions to the panel. During the next two days, GOTR members and their families will have the option to watch the entire event via the link. The documentary, which was produced by IndieFlix, utilizes interviews with children and teenagers to explore the facets of anxiety and how it impacts relationships, along with offering possible solutions. Olympic athlete Michael Phelps is interviewed, as are mental health experts. “‘Angst’ opens up the conversation about anxiety,” said Yohe, who added that the film fits with the curriculum of the weekly GOTR team meetings. “We provide a really safe space for our girls to sit and talk about their emotions and name their emotions,” she said. “When we saw this documentary, we realized that this is a (way to) engage our

DSAA Seeks Donations For Care Kits BY FRANCINE FULTON

One of life’s greatest tragedies is when a parent loses a child. But some grieving parents have been able to transform their heartbreak into positive efforts to benefit the community. Such is the case with Stacy Emminger, executive director of the Donegal Substance Abuse Alliance (DSAA), which supports those in recovery and provides assistance to families that have a loved one with addiction issues. In a year of refocusing priorities, the congregation members will ask whether they are living out the biblical story or the popular stories of the culture. They will do this by walking through “The Story,” a 31-chapter abridged version of the Bible, during the church’s 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship services. Messages will be given based on

the portion of the story of the week. Those interested in the study may join in anytime, catching up or jumping in at whatever point has been reached. Individuals will be invited to read a chapter per week, moving from Genesis to Revelation by Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20. Opportunities for further involvement will be available for people of all ages. Adults may pick up a hardback version for a cost or access “The Story” online. A student version will be available for middle and high school readers. Children may
