The Kreutz Creek Library is open for both browsing and inlibrary programs. Masks are optional. The library is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
SummerQuest will end on Sunday, Aug. 21, and prizes can be picked up through Saturday, Aug. 27. Participants who log 800 minutes for SummerQuest will earn free admission to the York Revolution game on Aug. 21 at PeoplesBank Park, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York. Gates will open at 1 p.m. SummerQuest attendees will parade around the field before the game, and they could win a chance to throw out the first pitch; entry for the first pitch contest is due by Sunday, Aug. 7.

Programs will include Baby and Toddler Story Time on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and Kindermusik on Wednesday, Aug. 10, for children up to age 3, along with Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 5, on Friday, Aug. 5.
The Family Place Workshop series will be offered on Tuesdays, Aug. 2 to 30, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. for children ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers. Parents will do hands-on activities, engaging directly with their children to promote emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Parents will also have opportunities to speak with resource professionals. Families are asked to attend all five workshops. Siblings may attend with a registered child. The program is free.
For the Online Lego Challenge, a themed Lego challenge will be posted to KCL’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. Participants of all ages may build and take a photo of their creation, then post the photo in the comments or email it to kreutzcreeklibrary@york libraries.org.
Nixon Park: Water Creatures From Puddle to Creek! will be presented via Zoom on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. People of all ages are invited to learn fun facts about animals, how they survive in water, and how they support healthy ecosystems.
Would You Like to Date a Fossil? will be livestreamed via Zoom from Guthrie Memorial Library in Hanover on Aug. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. In this interactive class, taught by Jorge Santiago-Blay, resident research assistant at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, youths will learn about dating fossils and identifying marine fossil specimens. Each participant will receive an authentic fossil specimen. The program is open to people ages 12 to 18.
Tween programs for individuals ages 9 to 12 will take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., with The Danger Club on Aug. 9 and the Library Squad on Aug. 23.

The book review group Spoiler Alert! will meet via Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m. People ages 13 to 18 may participate.
Crocheters and knitters will gather for Stitch and Chat! on Thursdays, Aug. 4 and 18, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Participants do not need to register.
Green Thumb Garden Talk will feature “Garden Smarter, Not Harder” with Melanie Markowski on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Registration is not required.
Mystery at the Library, a virtual author event, will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will gather on Aug. 16 in the Community Room at 5:30 p.m.
The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will hold a peach sundae fundraiser during the Hellam Carnival. The carnival will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 24 and 25, from 6 to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27, from 5 to 10 p.m. in the baseball fields off West Beaver Street in Hallam Borough. The Friends’ sundae stand will be located under the bleachers, and the Friends will also staff a stand in the general carnival area where attendees may purchase used books and receive more information about the Friends support group. Proceeds will benefit the Kreutz Creek Library.

UDS Service Dogs will host its third annual golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 26, at Crossgates Golf Club, 1 Crossland Pass, Millersville. Registration will open at 7 a.m., and the four-person scramble format will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
The cost of registration will include participation in the tournament, lunch, contests, a silent auction, and more. Prizes will be awarded to the top three golfers as well as a Dog House Award for the last-place golfer.
