Mountville Community Services Foundation (MCSF) will sponsor a series of concerts on the lawn of Mountville Church of the Brethren, College Avenue and Clay Street, Mountville, this summer. Penn State Extension will offer duplicate sessions of a program on the spotted lanternfly, an invasive pest that threatens Pennsylvania agriculture and home gardens. Sessions will be held at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. The sessions will be repeated on Thursday, Sept. 5. Hellam Gears Up For National Night Out By Chelsea Peifer

The Hellam Township Police Department will host its annual National Night Out (NNO) event on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the grass area at the Hellam Township Municipal Building, 45 Walnut Springs Road, York. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., rain or shine. Area residents are invited to stop by to meet and interact with local police officers, firefighters, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, elected officials, township staff, and neighbors. In addition to the Hellam Township Police Department, participants will include the Hellam Fire Company, Wrightsville Fire and Rescue Company, Susquehanna Valley EMS, Eastern York County Emergency Management Agency, and South Central Search and Rescue. Area residents are invited to the National Night Out event hosted by the Hellam Township Police Department at the Hellam Township Municipal Building on Aug. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Showcasing The Power Of Children times, each child endured extreme prejudice and made a positive impact on the world. The exhibit is designed to encourage children and families to explore problems of isolation, fear, and prejudice by giving a face to the Holocaust, the Civil Rights movement, and the AIDS epidemic. Main Street Mount Joy (MSMJ) will hold the 17th annual Taste of Mount Joy Cruisin’ Cuisine Car Show on Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Both sides of Main Street from Manheim Street to Barbara Street will be lined with vehicles, as well as local restaurants and vendors offering food and beverage selections to purchase. Admission is free for spectators. The car show will showcase more than 200 vehicles in the following classes: antique, classic, muscle car, street rod, Corvette, motorcycle, truck, emergency response, and custom. Chiques Challenge Scheduled For Aug. 10 Area residents are invited to join other veteran and amateur athletes as they run and kayak through the annual Chiques Challenge hosted by the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. The duathlon is slated for Saturday, Aug. 10, and will stage from the Columbia River Park, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. Participants will be transported to Vinegar Ferry Road for the 8:30 a.m. start time. The course takes runners along the river via the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail and through the streets of Marietta. The approximately 4-mile run portion of the event ends at the Marietta Boat Launch. There, runners will take to the river aboard kayaks and finish downstream at the Columbia See Chiques Challenge pg 6

Registration is underway for the annual Chiques Challenge, a duathlon scheduled for Aug. 10 that features a run along the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail and the streets of Marietta followed by a kayak route down the Susquehanna River.
