EYHS Celebrates Class Of 2020 Graduation festivities for the Class of 2020 at Eastern York High School (EYHS) began on May 26 and concluded one month later. With York County in the yellow phase of reopening at the
end of the school year, an in-person commencement was unable to take place when originally scheduled. With the county moving to green in midJune, however, a live event was slated for the school’s stadium on June 26. “The rain date is 10 a.m. the next
morning, but right now, the forecast is beautiful,” EYHS principal Tim Mitzel said on June 23. Mitzel reported that beginning on May 26, the graduating seniors were filmed in individual diploma presentations in the EYHS performing arts center.

the two organizations. Together they will build on a foundation of 75 years of service in housing advocacy and financial empowerment to area residents. “With the affordable housing crisis in the backdrop, we approached the important question of merging two strong organizations,” said Mike McKenna, Tabor Community Services president. Rick Jackson, LHOP board chair, noted that the organizations were different in origin, but similar in mission. “The vision and goals of our two organizations are indeed shared,” he said. “We also share ... values including empowerment, innovation, and accountability.” See Tabor And LHOP pg 2

Tabor And LHOP - Merging For Good
The students scheduled appointments when they could hear their names being called, walk across the stage, and receive diploma covers from their parents, caregivers, or guardians. Graduation speakers were also recorded giving their speeches. The completed video will be ready by Friday, July 17, Mitzel said. The actual diplomas were presented on June 3, which was the last day of the school year. EYHS administration and commencement advisers conducted a drive-through distribution in an event livestreamed on YouTube. That evening, the graduates gathered via Google Meet and their families watched via a separate link while Eastern York School District officials offered words of encouragement and conducted a virtual conferring of diplomas, officially certifying the seniors as graduates. Mitzel noted that a formal program was put together to normalize the event. See EYHS pg 2
