Glatfelter Memorial Field has been closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, but some activities may be allowed in coming weeks, dependent upon state guidelines. Prior to the closure due to the pandemic, Glatfelter Memorial Field Trust announced that any groups or organizations that wish to use the fields or pavilions must now sign an agreement, provide liability insurance, and pay a fee. These steps are intended to help ensure that the facility remains open for future generations.

Brandon’s Battle Golf Event Slated

Food Bank Seeks Volunteers

The seventh annual Brandon’s Battle Golf Tournament will take place at Cool Creek Golf Club, 300 Cool Creek Road, Wrightsville, on Saturday, Aug. 1. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Proper dress is required. Brandon’s Battle Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in honor of Brandon Hohenadel, an alumnus of Eastern York High School. Hohenadel was diagnosed with AML leukemia in December 2012. He lost his battle after nearly four years of fighting the cancer and the side effects of treatments. The foundation provides pediatric cancer patients and families of Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and See Brandon’s Battle pg 3

The Columbia Food Bank helps hundreds of people in the community each week. From Jan. 1 through April 30, it provided food for 431 families, representing 845 individuals and 16,254 meals. Fees help cover the basic expense of general repairs and maintenance, such as mowing, removal of fallen trees, water, electric, and insurance. No municipal, county, or state funding is received to cover these costs. These are the standard expenses before any improvements are made. Due to the age of some of the structures, some major repairs will be needed in the near future. In November 1937, Glatfelter Field was dedicated in honor of Lt. Richard Glatfelter, a graduate of Columbia High School and West Point Military Academy. The land was donated in his
