Hop Into The Market House ou’re invited to “Hop Into the Market House” when Vintage Revival Market hosts a pop-up event on Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9. The festivities will take place behind Third Street Vintage, 17-19 S. Third St., Columbia, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, the event will take place inside the Columbia Market House, 15 S. Third St., as well as in the outside adjacent area, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. “There will be a lot of vintage and handmade items featured, in addition to the permanent tenants at the market,” said Debra Luther, market facilitator. “It’s a lot of variety.” Vintage Revival Market began in 2009, when a bunch of likeminded people got together to share things they found at auctions and thrift stores, Luther stated. “They’d meet in a

Walmart parking lot, pop their trunks and sell their things,” she explained. Eventually, the group moved its event to a church in Akron before the people who originated the idea asked Luther to take it over in 2018. “I was reluctant, because I’m not a vintage expert,” she said, noting that she operates her own business of handmade items. Under Luther’s direction, Vintage Revival Market has grown from about 30 vendors to upward of 70 and is held regularly at the Shops at Rockvale in Lancaster. W hen Luther moved to Columbia, she contacted the market house about opening a stand there for her business. “We started talking about bringing Vintage Revival Market in instead,” she said. “It’s a nice way to bring more shoppers into the market.” The first Vintage Revival Market was held at the Columbia Market House in February. “It was a huge success,” Luther said. Even as a baby, Hunter Bristow loved trains. “We call him the train master,” said his grandma Donna Frias. In early March, Hunter got to experience the ride of a lifetime when Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley arranged for the 10-year-old from Lititz to spend the day as a train engineer with Amtrak. Hunter was born with osteochondrodysplasia, a rare hereditary bone and cartilage condition. After See Ride pg 2

He has also operated his own antique clock business and overseen clock sales for Bonhams auctioneers. McEvoy said several things attracted him to the position and prompted him to move to Lancaster County. “We have an absolutely fabulous collection here at the museum,” he said, noting that he had visited the headquarters, located at 514 Poplar St., three years ago. He said his goals for the job include promoting all the NAWCC See Time pg 4
