Lancaster Court Queen of Peace No. 1023 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas invites all youths in grades four through 12 from all schools to enter the 2019 National Education Contest. This year’s themes are “Here I Am Lord, I Come to Do Your Will,” based on Psalm 40, and “Doing My Best to Do Good.” Students may enter one or more contests, including art, essay, poetry, computer art, music, and photography, in their division. Readers may visit www.catholicdaughters.org and click on Education Contest Forms under Frequent Downloads for contest rules and details. The forms are also available in Spanish. There are many quotes exhorting people to be part of something bigger than themselves. Richmond Wandera, a native of Kampala, Uganda, has lived them. On Dec. 14, 2018, Wandera graduated from Lancaster Bible College (LBC) with a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership, with the goal of taking what he has learned back to his home country to spread knowledge among pastors there. “Uganda has 40 million people and 85,000 pastors, but 70 percent of (the pastors have) had no training,” said Wandera. “(Yet) they are forced to explain complex theology.” Wandera added that theological information is not easily See LBC Student pg 3

(KWVA) will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Eagle Commons of Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. The meeting will begin at noon. The speaker will be Larry Alexander, who will share the story of Merlin “Whitey” Groft, who fought in World War II. Membership in KWVA is open to all service members who served in Korea at any time from 1945 to the present or were in uniform serving anywhere from June 25, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955.
