LMHS To Present “Seven Keys To Baldpate” By Ann Mead Ash

BOOK SALE

The Friends of the Leola Branch Library will hold their sixth annual book sale on Friday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola. Thousands of books, CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit the Leola Branch Library. Lancaster Christian Women’s Club will meet at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz. The meeting will feature guest speaker Liz Bryant discussing “Need Advice? Where Do You Go?” Karen Craunour, a local patternmaker, will discuss “Right Size Off the Rack.” All women are invited to attend. There is a cost to attend. The Bible History Exhibits, 2827 Lincoln Highway East, Ronks, will open new exhibits on the Canaanites, Hittites, and Philistines on Saturday, Oct. 27. Paradise Bible Fellowship Church, 3092 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, invites families to a Trunk or Treat. The event will take place in the church parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Dean Sauder, director of the Lancaster Mennonite High School (LMHS) production of “Seven Keys to Baldpate,” is at no loss for words when describing the show. “It’s mystery. It’s comedy. It’s melodrama. It’s farce,” stated Sauder, who added that the 1913 play by George M. Cohan has been on his shortlist for several years. With a cast of 18, an almost completely black-and-white set and costumes, and a couple of unexpected twists near the end, “Baldpate” will play in the LMHS Fine Arts Center, 2176 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25; Friday, Oct. 26; and Saturday, Oct. 27. The plot centers on writer William Magee, played by Noah Schnabel, who enters into a contest with his friend Irene Bentley, played by Grace Reinhart.
