Gabriel Whitman, director of the Conestoga Valley High School (CVHS) drama club, has always wanted to produce “Peter Pan,” but when he read “Peter and the Starcatcher” by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson with his nephew, he decided he first wanted to stage the story of how Peter Pan became Peter Pan. CVHS will present “Peter and the Starcatcher” at the school, 2110 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 and 20, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. A special free presentation will be given on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. for Conestoga Valleyarea senior citizens who present gold cards. For Jeremy Leaman, founder and director of Ten Million for Christ, who grew up on a farm south of Strasburg, the invitation to lead a Youth Evangelism Service (YES) team to Romania as part of Eastern Mennonite Missions became a life-changing opportunity. “From the spring of 1993 to the summer of 1994, (our team) worked with churches there,” said Jeremy, whose team started a Christian student movement and a church during the 15-month outreach. “I fell in love with the people, the culture, the language, the food, and the beauty of the countryside.” In the fall of 2000, Jeremy returned to Romania, and he fell in love again.
