Pig Roast Benefit Will Help Build Recovery Center By Ann Mead Ash
In 2018, TTC/Potter’s House held its annual pig roast at 261 School Lane, Brownstown, located along the Conestoga River. The purpose in choosing that location was to dedicate the property with plans to build a faith-based rehab facility to combat drug addiction, called Still Waters Recovery Center, on the site. This year, the organization, a nonprofit, Christ-centered ministry that offers a holistic approach to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of pre-release and post-release prisoners and individuals desiring to overcome addictions, will hold the event at West Earl Community Park, 189 S. State St., Leola, because permits have been granted and construction has begun at the Still Waters site. The pig roast benefit will be held on Saturday, July 27, from noon to 4 p.m. Vans will be available to take attendees for tours at the Still Waters site a short distance away. For the more adventurous, kayaks and canoes will be available to paddle upriver to the site. The schedule for the drop-in experience will include

Around The World In Four Hours Cavod Campers To Present A limited budget or scant “High School Musical Jr.” vacation time does not have to mean a dismal summer. In fact, local folks may virtually go around the world in just four hours at the 24th annual Global Fair set for Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 1719 Hans Herr House and Museum, 1849 Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street. Hosted by Eastern Mennonite Missions (EMM), Global Fair is an international missions and culture event, but it has been updated for 2019. It will still include information about other cultures, opportunities to talk to mission workers and hear their stories about God at work around the world, international food from a wide variety of countries, and activities for children. Long before Cavod’s musical theater camps begin, the students who are participating are cast in a show, receive the script, take part in a read-through, and begin to learn their lines. “On the first day of camp, (students) come with the
dialogue memorized, and then we choreograph and polish,” said Cordell Huyard, who oversees the camps for Cavod and is directing Disney’s “High School Musical Jr.,” which will be performed by students taking part in the camp being held from Monday, July 15, through Friday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to See Cavod Campers pg 7
