The Upper Leacock Township War Memorial Association (ULTWMA) will hold its last indoor flea market/garage sale of the season on Saturday, April 6, in Veterans’ Hall of the War Memorial Building, 54 W. Main St., Leola, from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More than 40 vendors will offer a variety of items, including coins and collectibles, books, scarves, toys, crafts, candy, and more. Once Upon A Summertime … Cavod Schedules Arts And Theater Camps By Ann Mead Ash
Creative individuals looking for ways to fill their summer days need look no further than Cavod’s many summer camps. This year, Cavod, which was founded with the vision of raising the
standard in godly artistic expression, will hold no fewer than six summer programs at Cavod Academy of the Arts, 665 W. Main St., New Holland, with one camp held at the Junction Center in Manheim. For children ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 12, Once Upon an Arts Camps will be held in the mornings and afternoons from Monday, July 8, through Friday,
July 12. Camp for 3- to 6-year-olds will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and camp for 7- to 12-year-olds will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. On July 12, each camp will hold a closing performance. The camp theme for this year is “Fairy Tales, Folklore, and Fables,” and activities will include gymnastics and dance for both age groups, along with crafts for the younger children and art projects for those who that meet in the after noon.

Lifetree Café, located at Emmaus Road Café, 1886 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, will examine the impact of intimacy anorexia on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting. The program, titled “Intimacy Anorexia: The Dark Secret That’s Killing Marriages,” will feature a filmed interview with Dr. Douglas Weiss, a licensed psychologist. Admission is free. “When my girls were teenagers, we heard of ‘If You Find This Letter,’” said Deanna Riccardelli, a member of More Love Letters Lancaster, referring to a memoir by Hannah Brencher, who began writing letters to strangers in New York City when she found herself struggling emotionally. “She would write the kinds of things she wanted to hear,” explained Riccardelli, noting that Brencher found that sharing and encouraging others helped her out of her own depression. After Brencher wrote about her experiences, she founded The World Needs More Love Letters, and a movement was born. “(I) did this with my See More Love Letters pg 3

A breakfast and a health screening will take place at Upper Leacock Township War Memorial Association (ULTWMA), 54 W. Main St., Leola, on Saturday, April 13. The all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast will be served in the Veterans Hall from 7 to 11 a.m. Separate costs have been set for people age 13 and up and for children age 12 and under. Takeouts will be available at the door. An Omega Health Screening will be provided by Quest Diagnostics from 7 to 9:30 a.m. The fee will include a chemistry profile, coronary risk profile, and complete blood count.

On Feb. 22, the Fairmount chapter of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the Crest View Gathering Room. On a blackboard were written the words from Second Timothy 1:7, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” The night was special for a number of reasons. Rita Richard, who oversees the group, had arranged for a cooking competition featuring low-fat and lowsugar recipes. Her husband, Kent, judged the dishes along with Aaron and Kate Zimmerman and Mitch Hannah.
