Yorkfest Will Celebrate The Arts Experience, Integrity, Excellence Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will feature artwork by fine artists from across the country, along with hands-on activities, music, poetry, and food. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York.

The Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York. The festival, which will be held in and around the Colonial Complex and along the Rail Trail from Philadelphia to Princess streets, will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26. All events are free and open to the public.
This year’s featured artist is Robert Oughton. His pen-and-ink drawing “Lite Aire” is being used in print advertisements, postcards, billboards, and festival merchandise. Additionally, 100 fine artists from across the country have been chosen to participate in the Yorkfest Festival Marketplace. A variety of activities will also be available during Yorkfest. The second annual Sing for a Cure Lip Sync Competition will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. at York College, 441 Country Club Road, York, in the Waldner Performing Arts Center. Registration is open to people of all ages. Proceeds will benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Celebrity judges will evaluate the performers, and news anchor Evan Forrester
will serve as the master of ceremonies. Community members may attend to cheer on the participants. The winner will perform at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on Saturday, Oct. 20, during the kickoff of the walk. Admission is free. Church Announces Concert Series St. John Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver St., York, has announced its fifth annual Concert Series. All events are free, although freewill offerings will be received. Members of the public are invited to attend. A reception will follow each event. The series will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. with a concert by Irish Blessing, a York group featuring Jonathan Srour. The Russian vocal ensemble Lyra will perform on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m. Soprano Amy Yovanovich will present a recital following the All Saints evensong worship service, scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., local jazz musician Jeff Stabley and his quartet, featuring guest vocalist Dred “Perky” Scott, will present “Christmas Jazz” immediately following York’s Light Up Night ceremony.
