New Song Community Choir Plans Concert

In conjunction with its homecoming activities, St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church, 11894 Susquehanna Trail South, Glen Rock, will host a concert featuring the New Song Community Choir. The public is invited to attend. The concert will be held in the sanctuary of the church on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 1:30 p.m. Musicians from St. Paul will join the New Song Choir for a few selections. There is no admission charge; a freewill offering will be received to further the ministries of the New Song choir. The New Song Community Choir consists of 45 adults from 20 churches in the southern

New Song Community Choir will present a concert at St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church in Glen Rock on Sunday, Oct. 20. York County area. The group presents programs of gospel music and patriotic music as well as Christmas programs.

Guild Members Will Present Quilt Show

Enjoying A Taste Of The Valley

Quilting on the Line Quilt Guild will present its biennial quilt show at the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company’s Jarrettsville Gardens, 2835 Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the guild, who come from Harford and southern York counties, will exhibit their work from the last two years. Traditional, contemporary, and art quilting will be displayed. The guild will also present Challenge Quilts, Mystery Quilts, Quilts of Valor, and Row by Row Quilts. The event will also include a craft boutique, a silent auction, and vendors. Refreshments will be provided. There is an admission fee for both days that will include a free entry for a drawing for the quilt “Springtime Stars.” Peg Dougherty of Pylesville, Md., will be the featured quilter. Dougherty’s work has received national and international recognition. She is a repeat blueribbon winner at the Harford County Farm Fair, the Maryland State Fair, and international competitions. The Arthur Hufnagel Public Library, 32 Main St., Glen Rock, will host Taste of the Valley, its main fundraiser of the year, on Friday, Oct. 25. Taste of the Valley will kick off at the library at 6 p.m. with a scavenger hunt and complimentary beverage. At 7 p.m., the festivities will move just down the street to the historic Glen Rock Mill Inn for hors d’oeuvres and food stations, two free beverages, desserts, a jazz band, and silent auction of themed gift baskets. Attendees will be able to tour the inn, including unoccupied guest rooms and suites. Taste of the Valley tickets may be purchased in person at the library and the Glen Rock Mill Inn.
