SPAGHETTI SUPPER

St. John (Sadler’s) Lutheran Church,

Waiting for someday to plan your funeral or cremation service may be a big mistake. Last time we checked, there is no someday on the calendar.

2916 Sadlers Church Road, Stewartstown, will hold its annual spaghetti supper on Saturday, Sept. 8. Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. in the picnic pavilion at the church. The menu will include tossed salad, all-youcan-eat spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, a beverage, and dessert. There will also be a baked goods table. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a sing-along. Everyone is invited to attend and encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The cost of dinner will be discounted for children. For details, readers may call 717-993-3873. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

St. Paul Church, 161 S. Main St., Shrewsbury, will honor its pastor, the Rev. Dr. Martha Butkofsky Boyer, on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 10:15 a.m. Worshippers may bring their Bibles to be blessed. The worship service will be followed by a luncheon. The church will recognize the 40th anniversary of Boyer’s ordination, which occurred on Sept. 3, 1978, at Salem United Church of Christ in Harrisburg. Since then, Boyer has served churches in West Berlin, Germany; Ohio; and Pennsylvania. She has served St. Paul Church for the past six years. In addition to Germany, her work has taken her to the mission fields of San Jose, Costa Rica, and Istanbul, Turkey. She and her husband of 35 years, David, have a son, Andrew. Call the church office at 717-235-7003.

Plan today.

will hold its regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, at 6:15 p.m. at the New Freedom Community Center, 150 E. Main St., on the second floor. An elevator is available. Attendees may learn about the Lioness Club’s activities that support community services. There is no obligation to join. For more information, visit www.newfreedomlioness.org or call Dianne Donahue at 717-2352144. The club recently hosted a blood drive, collecting 20 pints of blood for the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank. The blood bank estimates these donations may save 60 lives locally.
