South Eastern Dollars for Scholars awarded 58 scholarships to members of the Kennard-Dale High School Class of 2019 at an awards ceremony on May 21. Green Thumb Garden Club helped dedicate a Blue Star Memorial at the Keystone Welcome Center in Shrewsbury on June 1. Taking part were (from left) state Rep. Stan Saylor, club president Melanie Markowski, and state Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill.

A special lecture titled “River Crossings: The Volcano Vs. the Bridge” will be presented on Saturday, July 13, by Dr. David Glenn and Dr. Roger Wilson, co-authors of the local history publication “The River and the Ridge.” The event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Kiva Room at the Indian Steps Museum, 205 Indian Steps Road, Airville. Admission will be collected at the door, with a discount for Conservation Society of York County members. Reservations are requested by contacting becky@indiansteps.org. American Legion Riders Raise Funds Members of American Legion Riders (ALR) Post 455, Stewartstown, participated in the Tech Sgt. Daniel L. Zerbe Ride sponsored by the Red Lion ALR Post 543 on June 8. More than 200 motorcycles and 250 riders participated in the event, which started at York Excavating. The group traveled through several towns, including See ALR Post pg 8
