For more than 30 years, Susquehanna Grace Community Church (SGCC) has been hosting Road to Bethlehem, a live Nativity, for the public each Christmas season. “It started with a group of young families of the church wanting to provide a Christmas event for their children that wasn’t about the commercialized traditions that have become today’s understanding of Christmas,” explained organizer Rebecca Smith. “It was a simple idea to make Christmas about Christ for the children and adults alike.” Road to Bethlehem will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at SGCC, 6694 Sunrise Ave., Wrightsville. The event is free and open to people of all ages. Each year, attendees comment on how much they enjoy the break and moments to pause that this annual event provides amidst the busyness of the holiday season, Smith said. “This is an event that stops you and says simply, ‘Breathe and enjoy this season of goodwill.’ It is a good reminder to … relish in what Christmas See Road To Bethlehem pg 7
