York Heart Walk Supports AHA
Community REACH Continues Programs

Instructor Albert Storm (back, center) conducts English Language Learning classes on Thursdays at Community REACH Inc. in Red Lion. The classes are free and available to residents of the Community REACH service area, which includes the Dallastown, Eastern, and Red Lion school districts.

Nearly 700 walkers turned out at John Rudy County Park in York on Sept. 15 for the York Heart Walk. The event raised more than $58,000 for the American Heart Association (AHA). News personality Brittany Garzillo hosted the Heart Walk opening festivities, which included health information, blood pressure checks and CPR demonstrations courtesy of WellSpan
Health and UPMC, children’s activities and healthy snacks. Among the participants were 2-yearold Bristol Miller and her parents, Josh and Leah Miller, of Airville. In March 2018, then-14-month-old Bristol suffered a pediatric cardiac arrest. First responders eventually restored a normal heart rhythm and got Bristol safely to the hospital, where she spent five weeks. See Heart Walk pg 3
Community REACH Inc., 15 First Ave., Red Lion, will offer free programs designed for the community served by the Dallastown, Eastern, and Red Lion school districts. Additional information is available at www.commreach.org and www.facebook.com/commreach. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Community REACH will host
a cooking and nutrition session in conjunction with the Penn State Extension Nutrition Links. Penn State Extension nutrition education adviser Terri Rentzel will instruct the class. Students will receive free lessons with activities as they learn how to eat healthy on a limited budget and cook low-cost, fast and easy meals. Participants will sample new See Community REACH pg 3
