Event To Celebrate Railroad Heritage

Church Plans Rally Day Concert

The Ma and Pa Railroad Heritage Village, 1258 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Airville, will hold its 21st annual Railroad Heritage Day on Saturday, Sept. 22, though the village was recently affected by a damaging flood. Ma and Pa Society members were aided by dozens of community volunteers who helped to clean up the mud and debris that littered the village after the flooding of Aug. 31. The annual open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature special exhibits, presentations, displays, demonstrations, children’s activities, food, tours of the historic village and motorcar train rides through the scenic Muddy Creek Valley. Due to the severe track damage caused by the flood, only 1.2 miles of the track used for a 2.4-mile round trip will be in operation on Heritage Day. Train rides will start every half-hour. Train rides will be free, but tickets are required and must be picked up at the station inside the
