Rotary Club Presents Scholarships The Rotary Club of Red Lion - Dallastown recently presented the 2019 Mac McCready Scholarship to two local students.

Volunteers Sought For Archaeological Dig Volunteers are still needed for the Camp Security archaeological dig. Exploration, guided by lead archaeologist John Crawmer, will begin on Thursday. Aug. 8, with surface collection followed by metal detection on Friday, Aug. 9. Hand excavation will begin on Monday, Aug. 12, and continue on Mondays through Fridays, except for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. After hand excavation concludes on Wednesday, Sept. 4, several days will be allowed for rain makeup. Lab work cleaning and cataloging of found artifacts - will be conducted from Thursday, Sept. 12, until Friday, Sept. 20, as necessary. Benefit Concert, Picnic Planned Jessica and Friends Community will host a Summer’s End Indoor Picnic and Benefit Concert on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church (UMC), 109 E. Main St., Dallastown. The community is invited. The meal will be held in the Trinity Life Center (TLC) fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m. and will include beef brisket, hot dogs, sides, dessert, and beverages. A freewill

offering will be accepted. A Program of Blessings will follow at 7 p.m. in the TLC Worship Center. The program will include performances by the Hosanna Ringers, a solo by Elizabeth Smith, duets by Austin Lesnak and Buddy King and by Michael Strickler and Agatha Asiimwe, and a performance by the Jessica and Friends Dance Team. Dallastown Area High School’s Class of 1954 celebrated the 65th anniversary of its commencement on June 1. The class members in attendance were (front, from left) Mary Ann Strayer Olphin, Anita Roth Tickle, Faye L. “Toot” Taylor, Marilyn Snyder Steinfelt, Audrey Gemmill Gemmill, Gail Schell Stump, Barry E. Stump, (back) John T. Henry, Paul H. Grove, Marlin C. “Duffy” Dunlap, H. James Waltemeyer, Dean R. Wise, David R. Kern, Dale S. Jacobs, Terry M. Hildebrand and (not pictured) James C. Flinchbaugh. Dallastown Area High School’s Class of 1954, the first to be graduated after the July 1, 1953, effective date of the school district’s consolidation, celebrated the 65th anniversary of its commencement on June 1 at Meadow Hill Family Restaurant, Longstown. Sixteen of the 29 remaining class
members were among the 25 persons in attendance. The reunion committee had announced previously the gathering would be the final one for the class, which had met regularly at five-year intervals since graduation.
