Police Department Receives Award Northeastern Current Job Opportunities

Bell Socialization Services Inc. has recognized the Northern York Regional Police Department as the recipient of the Pauline Whitacre Community Services Award. Presented to an individual or group that provides time and resources to enhance Bell’s mental health programs, the award was received at Bell’s fall annual meeting on Oct. 2 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in York. The Northern York Regional Police Department has worked with Bell’s assertive community treatment (ACT) team on many occasions over the past year, meeting staff members at client homes, parking lots, and stores to help coordinate the safety of mental health clients. Bell recognized the officers for exhibiting compassion and understanding when clients displayed extreme psychotic behaviors and for working collaboratively with staff members and respectfully with clients at all times. ACT program coordinator Christine Adkins nominated the police department for the award. Deputy Chief of Police Dave Lash and Lt. Gregg Anderson accepted the award. Bell Socialization Services Inc. is a human services agency based in York that provides housing and living skills supports to individuals living with mental illness, people with intellectual disabilities, and families that are homeless.
To Stage Play Northeastern Dramatics will present “13 Past Midnight,” a murder mystery/comedy, on Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Northeastern High School, 300 High St., Manchester. The play features a cast of 16 juniors and seniors, with Nate Tully, Brynn MacDonald, Paul Heard, Amy Rizzo, Zoey Pew and Trent Stauffer as featured seniors. Ticket prices for “13 Past Midnight” have been set for adults and for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased from cast members or at the door.

Senior Center’s Wii Bowling Team Celebrates End Of Season
Children and youths will be among the nearly 200 performers at the annual Youth Choral Festival on Sunday, Nov. 18. The concert will feature the Susquehanna Children’s, Youth, and Young Women’s chorales, as well as the Susquehanna Chorale. The Susquehanna Chorale and three of its educational choirs will present the annual Youth Choral Festival on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. at the High Center, Messiah College, 1 College Ave., Grantham. The public is invited to attend. The intergenerational event will feature performances by the nearly 200 voices of the Susquehanna Children’s, Youth, and Young Women’s chorales, as well as the Susquehanna Chorale. The program will include selections from the traditional choral repertoire, art songs,

and folk songs from around the world. The concert will conclude with a performance by the combined choirs of Mack Wilberg’s “Anthem of Peace,” conducted by Linda L. Tedford, founder and artistic director of the Susquehanna Chorale. The Wilberg composition combines an Estonian folk song called “The Power of Song” with the American spiritual “We Shall Walk in the Valley of Peace.” It commemorates the Singing Revolution of 1987 to 1991, when the Estonian people massed by the thousands to sing in the See Youth Choral Festival pg 8
