Dover Lions Club member Robert Merkert (left) received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from past zone chairman Duane Hull during the Dover club’s meeting on Oct. 11. The award is presented to Lions Club members for outstanding service. Merkert joined the Dover Lions Club in March 1970 and has held various positions in the club during his 48 years of service. Most notably, he was a member of the board of directors for many years.

These duties include delivering product to and from work areas, utilizing the forklift and maintaining good record keeping of all paperwork associated with incoming and outgoing work. • Assisting in maintaining clean and orderly production storage area in compliance with OSHA standards. • Assisting with maintaining excellent quality control in the production area. • Assisting with ensuring that all forklifts and pallet jacks are in good operating order and necessary repairs are reported to supervisor in a timely manner. • Maintaining the production areas according to 55 Pa. Code CH. 2390 state regulations. • Making scheduled deliveries utilizing the corporate 20-foot box truck or other vehicle as assigned. • Assisting in loading trucks on site and off site as it pertains to deliveries. • Assisting with the general maintenance of the delivery truck. These duties include taking care of any deficiencies listed on the company vehicle check list and reporting any vehicle problems to supervisor immediately. • Minimum Hiring Criteria: High school diploma or GED is recommended • Must possess a valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of good driving experience with your license, and must meet our driver eligibility criteria (listed on the application) - PA DOT physical required • $13.25/hr to $13.55/hr

Dover Library Friends To Offer Santa Letters The Dover Area Community Library Friends will offer a fundraiser featuring personalized letters from Santa written to any child or adult. The program will run from Monday, Nov. 12, to Wednesday, Dec. 12. Form letters are available for pickup at the Dover Area Community Library, 3700 Davidsburg Road, Dover. Completed letters should be mailed via the special Santa Express mailbox inside the
library. Details are available with the form letter at the library desk in the Santa packet. Each letter will be handwritten on Christmas stationery, including personal references, and sent through the United States Postal Service promptly after Saturday, Dec. 1, to the recipient’s home address. There is a cost. Proceeds will benefit the Dover Area Community Library.
Food Giveaway Event Slated Pleasant Grove Church, 850 Pleasant Grove Road, York Haven, will host a free community event on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. in the church basement. The church will provide items to complete community members’
Thanksgiving meals. Items will include canned peas, corn, string beans, and yams; instant potatoes; cranberry jelly; biscuit mix; gravy; stuffing; pie filling; gelatin dessert or pudding mix; and hot chocolate mix. No turkey will be available.
Church Holds Heritage Sunday
“Then Sings My Soul: Beloved Hymns and Songs Inspired by the Ministry of Billy Graham” will be performed on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Grace Baptist Church, Lewisberry. Grace Baptist Church, 780 Woodland Ave., Lewisberry, along with with The Red Caboose Motel, will present an original production, “Then Sings My Soul: Beloved Hymns and Songs Inspired by the Ministry of Billy Graham,” on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. “Then Sings My Soul” will highlight hymns of faith often sung at Graham’s crusades, as well as historical moments in Graham’s ministry and look at the history behind some of the most famous hymns, many of which were written as a result of tragic and trying circumstances. Featured hymns will include “In the Garden,” “It Is

Well With My Soul,” “Every Time I Feel the Spirit,” and “Just As I Am,” and there will be an old-fashioned hymn sing. Under the direction of Scott Williams, the show will feature professional vocalists Seth Garrett Antes, Bryson Buffington, Kat Prickett, and Holly Wert, all from the Lancaster area. Admission is free, though a freewill offering will be received with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to The Billy Graham Library Endowment.
