VFW Post, Auxiliary Hold Fundraiser Walk Alumni Group

Experience, Integrity, Excellence Members of the James A. Danner VFW Post 537 and Auxiliary participated in the Pennsylvania VFW’s Veterans’ March for Diabetes. The walk allowed Post 537 and the auxiliary to contribute a combined gift of $5,500 toward the fight against diabetes.

Church Sets Trunk Or Treat, Pie Sale Redland Valley Church, located at 3555 Lewisberry Road, York Haven, has posted two upcoming events. The church will host Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The drop-in event for families will feature trick or treating and games. Food will be available for purchase to help raise money for the church’s ministries. Attendees are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes. Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 N. Sherman St. Extd., Mount Wolf, will host a oyster and roast beef dinner on Saturday, Nov. 3. Dinner will be served from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner options will include fried oysters, roast beef with filling, or a combination of both. The cost of each dinner will also include mashed potatoes, a vegetable, dessert, and a choice

of applesauce, fruit cocktail, broccoli salad, or coleslaw. Small and large portions, extra oysters, and carryout meals will be available. Oyster stew will be sold by the bowl, pint, and quart. At the September meeting of the Dover Lions Club, first vice president George Melbert (left) and Dover Lioness Club president Lynne Elicker (right) presented District 14-C governor Lisa Griffie with checks for her special projects. Danner VFW Post 537 and Auxiliary contributed a combined gift of $5,500 toward the fight against diabetes as part of VFW District 21 and the Pennsylvania VFW’s Veterans’ March for Diabetes. For the past 12 years, VFW District 21 leaders have invited others to participate in the organization’s fall fundraising

A van carrying participants left for Dillsburg on the morning of VFW District 21’s fall fundraising walk. The van was one of three vehicles shuttling participants between locations where 2-mile legs of the walk were held.

The Dover Area High School Alumni Association (DAHSAA) will have its annual banquet and member social on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Union Fire and Hose Company social hall, Canal Street, Dover, starting at 6 p.m. The dinner will be a family-style turkey dinner, and there will be live music provided by Matt Miskie. The celebration will also honor the Dover Class of 1968 on its 50th year since graduation. There will be door prizes and a silent auction.
