FALL FESTIVITIES
The West Shore Senior Center invites members of the public to attend the Apple Festival in New Cumberland on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center will be open throughout the event, offering homemade baked goods, yard sale items, and other items for purchase. Tours of the center will be available. The senior center is located at 122 Geary Ave., adjacent to New Cumberland Borough Park, where all Apple Festival activities will take place.

Library Announces September Activities Red Land Community Library, 70 Newberry Commons, Etters, has posted a variety of programs that will take place in September. A Pajama Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. The new program will be held on the first Tuesday of each month. Babies and Books, for youngsters from birth through 18 months, will be offered on Monday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Toddler Time, for children ages 18 months through 3 years, is slated for Thursday, Sept. 27. Sessions will begin at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. Preschool Story Time, for children age 3 to kindergarten, will take place on Friday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. First- through fifth-graders are invited to take part in a Lego Challenge on Thursday,
Sept. 6, at 4:30 p.m. Participants may build a Lego creation based on a monthly theme using supplied Legos. Sit! Stay! Read to the Dogs! will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. Readers may sign up to read to a trained dog. The program is held on the second Saturday of each month. Knit and crochet groups will meet on Monday, Sept. 10, at 1 and 3 p.m. People of all skills levels are invited to attend and bring a project. Refreshments will be provided. The new program will be held on the second Monday of each month. Make-HER Space will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The monthly science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program is for girls ages 10 to 13 with a female adult. Registration is required. The tech guru will visit from 4 to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13. Individuals may ask questions about digital devices.

WSRec Releases Fall Guide West Shore Recreation Commission (WSRec) will continue celebrating its 50th anniversary with the release of the 2018 fall guide. Fall registration for residents began on Aug. 28. Nonresident registration will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4. WSRec will continue to offer fitness programs incorporating strength, balance, flexibility, aerobic and endurance exercises, such as Pilates, Pi-Yo, Muscle Pump, Kickboxing and Abs, Zumba Step, Tabata and new Easy Tai Chi. Tai chi, yoga, ballroom, and other programs will be offered as well. Aquatic workouts, such as Aquacise, Aqua Fit, Water Workout and Hydro Hike, will be held at the Natatorium at Red Land Area High School, 560 Fishing Creek Road, Lewisberry. WSRec will offer workshops highlighting freezer meals in the slow cooker, during which attendees will assemble five meals in an hour and take them
