CRAFT FAIR

The Middletown Blue Raider Foundation will host its fourth annual craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Middletown Area High School, 1155 N. Union St., Middletown. Area crafters and vendors will have goods for sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more details, contact foundation@raiderweb.org. Gamut Theatre Group, 15 N. Fourth St., Harrisburg, will open its 27th season with its production of “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” based on the novel by C.S. Lewis. It will run from Friday, Nov. 15, through Sunday, Dec. 8, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. There will be no performance on Saturday, Nov. 16. Tickets to the show, as well as the opening night reception, are on sale, and group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more. At all Sunday performances, any size donation will be accepted for admission. Additionally, there are no online ticket fees. Harrisburg Christian Performing Arts Center (HCPAC),

Boy Scout Troop 97 and Cub Scout Pack 97 recently took part in Refuse at the Reservoir. Participants donned boots and fluorescent yellow vests to hike the trails along the Middletown Reservoir and remove trash. Scoutmaster Bill Lee had previously reviewed the seven principles of Leave No Trace (LNT) with Troop 97, and the event gave Scouts an opportunity to put a few of those points into practice. The Scout Motto is “Be Prepared,” which mirrors the first LNT principle of Plan Ahead and Prepare. The main purpose of the cleanup was to remove trash from the reservoir in accordance with the LNT principle of Dispose of Waste Properly. Cleanup participants found that most of the trash had already made it to the trash barrels along the trail. Scouts, leaders, and parents emptied these barrels, collected other garbage they could safely reach, and hauled out 18 large bags along with a few folding chairs. Open Stage Slates Holiday Productions Jenkins To Present Traditional American Music Open Stage of Harrisburg has slated two holiday productions, “Who’s Holiday!” and “A Christmas Carol.” “Who’s Holiday” will kick off Open Stage’s 34th season, “Metamorphosis,” which features stories of change, redemption, and metamorphosis. Open Stage is located at 25 N. Court St. on the street level of the Walnut Street Garage in downtown Harrisburg. “Who’s Holiday!” by Matthew Lombardo will premiere in Open Stage’s new black box theater, the Studio Theater. Performances will take place on select dates from Saturday, Nov. 16, to Saturday, Dec. 28, with evening shows at 8 p.m. and matinees at 3 p.m. See Open Stage pg 2

Hubby Jenkins, a former New York City busker who later became a member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, will present his solo act on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Hunter Centennial Barn, 5300 N. Front St., Harrisburg. The concert is sponsored by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society (SFMS). Born and raised in Brooklyn, Jenkins delved into his Southern roots, following the thread of African American history that wove through country blues, ragtime, fiddle and banjo tunes, and traditional jazz. He developed his musical chops and style as a busker, performing music on the sidewalks and subway platforms in New York City. An itinerant musician, he took his show on the road, playing on streets, at coffee shops, at bars, and at house parties in cities around the U.S. See Hubby Jenkins pg 3
