HALLOWEEN PARADE
The Kiwanis Club of Middletown will hold its 65th annual Halloween Parade on Monday, Oct. 15. The parade will start forming at 6:15 p.m. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Race and Conewago streets. To obtain the parade route map, visit www.kiwanisclubofmiddletown.com. Merchandise and novelties will be sold, and there will be food concessions. The rain date will be Tuesday, Oct. 16. If the parade is postponed because of rain, local radio stations will be advised after 2 p.m. on Oct. 15. For information about the parade, readers may may email middletownparade@aol.com. The Middletown Area High School (MAHS) Mini-THON Committee invites community members to participate in a Trek-or-Treat 5K Run for the Kids on Saturday, Oct. 20. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at MAHS, 1155 N. Union St., Middletown. The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. Participants will collect candy along the course. MAHS Plans Homecoming Festivities
The Serbian Singing Society Josif Marinkovich of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church will host a concert, dinner, and dance in celebration of its 85th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 27. All events will be held in the church hall at St. Nicholas Church, 601 S. Harrisburg St., Oberlin. Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with Great Vespers, followed by the concert at 5 p.m. The concert will consist of performances by three choirs: guest choir Carica Milica Women’s Choir of Pittsburgh, Christ the Saviour Church Choir of Harrisburg, and the Marinkovich choir. The dinner and dancing will follow the concert. Music will be provided by Srpski Sinovi of Pittsburgh. Tickets include the concert, dinner, and dance. Tickets for the dance only are also available. CPYB To Stage “Cinderella’s Ball” Music Ministry Team To Visit Church Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) will perform “Cinderella’s Ball” on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 and 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, 222 Market St., Harrisburg.
Sewin’ Sisters Sowing will present its 21st Sew Much for Charity and Free Fabric Event on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 Main St., Hummelstown. The networking event is for those who crochet, knit, or sew for charity, and sewing groups are welcome to join and sew to benefit the community. There is no cost to attend, and a light lunch will be provided for free. Individuals with special dietary needs should bring their own food. Those who wish to reserve a table to demonstrate their fiber arts charity projects should contact Marcellene Currens at 717-561-9964 by Saturday, Oct. 27. The group will not meet in October.

The Bob Jones University (BJU) Music Ministry Team will give a presentation at Open Door Bible Church, 200 Nissley Drive, Middletown, on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public. The Music Ministry Team will present a program of sacred songs and
testimonies. The team is touring through Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania this fall. The BJU group consists of staff and students who come from four states. The team is led by Wesley Pherson and features Blake Felber, Emaley Fuller, Erica Connors, and Caleb Woo.
