ANNUAL FESTIVAL

The Lower Dauphin High School Diversity Club and the Unity in Diversity Foundation will host the fourth annual Unity in Diversity Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Schaffner Park, located at the corner of Poplar Avenue and Water Street in Hummelstown. Activities will include arts and crafts for people of all ages, live performances, dancing, music, food, henna tattoos and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Evangelical United Methodist Church, 157 E. Water St., Middletown, will serve a pork and sauerkraut dinner on Monday, Oct. 1, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will include pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce, a beverage, and dessert. will hold a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at Stauffers of Kissel Hill, 5350 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. The event will feature barbecue, hot dogs with sauerkraut, beverages, soft pretzels, and baked goods. The community is invited to stop by. The Lower Swatara Lions Club will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Lions Building in Shopes Gardens. Pickup will be from noon to 2 p.m. Meals will include a halfchicken, a baked potato, applesauce, and a roll. Tickets can be purchased from members of the Lower Swatara Lions Club, and some dinners will be available to be purchased on the day of the event.

New Beginnings Church of Middletown, 630 S. Union St., Middletown, will host Fall Fest on Saturday,

Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located next to the Rescue Fire House.

Mount Calvary Announces 26th Annual Benefit Auction By Chelsea Peifer

Mount Calvary Christian School (MCCS), which serves students in preschool through 12th grade, will hold its 26th annual benefit auction on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, at the school, 629 Holly St., Elizabethtown. The event will kick off on Sept. 28 with a barbecue dinner catered by a popular Mount Joy-based eatery. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and takeout meals will be available in addition to the eatin option. Separate ticket prices See Auction pg 12

The event will feature games, relays, face painting, candy scrambles, hayrides, food, crafts, spider limbo,

pumpkin bowling, entertainment, door prizes, and more. Everything will be free.

HCPAC To Offer “Backstage 101” The Harrisburg Christian Performing Arts Center (HCPAC), 1000 S. Eisenhower Blvd., Middletown, will offer Backstage 101. Classes will be held from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from Oct. 3 through Dec. 11. The class will not meet on Nov. 21. Participants will gain a broad understanding of the many different parts of a theatrical production, such as set

building and design, costuming and props, production management, lighting and sound, house management, promotions and development, and graphic arts. Students are required to complete 45 hours of field experience at HCPAC outside of class time. The class is available to students in grades nine through 12. Coin Show To Feature Special Display

The Harrisburg Coin Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization, will host its 56th annual coin show on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at American Legion Post 272, 505 N. Mountain Road, Harrisburg. The venue is located off exit 72 (Linglestown) of Route 81. Individuals who like coins, paper

money, medals, or tokens, as well as those who want to sell items or have items appraised, are welcome. The event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I with a special display. Vendors will be from Pennsylvania and surrounding states. There will also be giveaway drawings and door prizes. See Coin Club pg 2
