DAR Chapter Marks 125th Anniversary The Harrisburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) celebrated its 125th anniversary with a luncheon on May 16. Many members of the Pennsylvania State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, state officers, and members of neighboring chapters participated in the events that featured the service of the Harrisburg Chapter. The celebration included the launch of “They Forged Our Path to Freedom,” a book that was created by Harrisburg Chapter members. It includes biographies of more than 60 Revolutionary War patriots, including those related to chapter members and the founding members of the chapter. The first Harrisburg Chapter meeting of the DAR was organized by 12 women in the Harrisburg area on May 19, 1894. From those first 12 women to the hundreds of members throughout the years, each of the Harrisburg Chapter members has worked to honor and promote the history, patriotism, and education within the Harrisburg area. The DAR was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Harrisburg Chapter will locally continue to
