SUMMER CAMP
Harrisburg Christian Performing Arts Center, 1000 S. Eisenhower Blvd., Middletown, will present its Summer Camp 2018, a Magic Tree House Collection story: Pirates Past Noon Kids. The camp will take place from Monday through Friday, Aug. 6 to 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a performance on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Students entering first through eighth grade are invited. There is a cost per student, and space is limited to 30 participants. The camp price will include two free tickets to the production and a souvenir cast photo. Tour Will Showcase Mount Gretna Sites The Mount Gretna Tour of Homes and Gardens is slated for Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The self-guided walking tour will include homes and gardens of various sizes and styles, including an original 1892 Chautauqua cottage. In addition,
tourgoers will have the opportunity to travel by trolley to one home, and artist studios will be open for attendees to explore. Volunteers at the Historical Society Museum will be on hand to answer questions about Mount Gretna, and Chautauqua homeowners will

St. Mary’s Preservation Society will hold its annual Croatian picnic on Sunday, Aug. 5, from noon to 8 p.m. at Cibort Park, Center and Penn streets, Bressler. A Croatian-language Mass with hymns and tambura will be at 11 a.m. Admission and parking will be free. The picnic will feature roast lamb and pork, cevapcici, sarma, and other ethnic foods, including strudels, pitas, and palacinke. Live music will be performed all day. A children’s play area, games, and face painting will be available.

Rissers Mennonite Church To Host Community Picnic By Chelsea Peifer
The annual “Norma Swain and Friends” concert will be held at Historic Peace Church, 350 St. John’s Church Road, Camp Hill, on Sunday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m. The program will feature a variety of music, including Baroque selections on the 1807 Conrad Doll organ and sacred, classical, and contemporary solos for piano and voice. Performers will include tenor Alejandro Olmedo of New York City, soprano Mary Catherine Tierney of Hershey, soprano Cheryl Crider of Harrisburg, and pianists Miranda Lape, Caleb Flick, and Swain. Rissers Mennonite Church, 8360 Elizabethtown Road, Elizabethtown, will host its annual community picnic on Saturday, July 28. The entire event is free, and registration is not required. Festivities are slated to begin at 5 p.m. with activities for children and adults. Children’s activities will include a barrel train ride, bunnies to pet, a candy scramble, a bounce house, and an activity table with shelled corn and toy tractors and buckets to play with. Penn State Extension of Dauphin County 4-H Clubs will hold their annual 4-H Fair on Thursday, Aug. 9, through Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, 2300 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg. The free 4-H Fair is open to the public on Aug. 9 from noon to 7 p.m.; on Friday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and on Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to

Reading Program Continues Area residents of all ages are invited to a free community picnic at Rissers Mennonite Church in Elizabethtown on July 28. In addition to a barbecue chicken dinner, the evening will include children’s activities, lawn games, and an outdoor movie.
The Dauphin County Library System is still accepting registrations for the “Libraries Rock” Summer Reading Program. The library system is over halfway to its community goal of two million minutes read. Community members may sign up for the program by visiting
