MOVIE NIGHT

The Dauphin County Parks and Recreation Department and Lower Swatara Lions Club will host Movie Night in the Park on Saturday, June 22, in the ball field next to the Lions building in Shopes Gardens, 2 Theodore Ave., Middletown. The movie, “Moana,” will begin at dusk. Free hot dogs, popcorn, and beverages will be provided, compliments of the Lower Swatara Lions Club. The entire family is invited to attend and bring along a blanket. CAR SHOW

The Middletown Home, 999 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, will hold its annual Father’s Day car show on Friday, June 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will include music and food. Fink Elementary Holds Career Day Fink Elementary School held its Career Day on May 10 with the assistance of students from Dauphin County Technical School (DCTS). The younger students rotated between

various learning stations and heard from DCTS students about the training they are receiving in their fields of interest. Tyler Harker explained what he is

learning in veterinary medicine. Harker demonstrated how to give CPR to dogs and also invited students to try it. Leonard Wesley displayed tools that assist him in his carpentry training and shared the kinds of projects he has completed. Rylee Honney and Caleb Wenger shared their artwork and graphic

designs. Zach Alleman and Elise Homrighausen talked about criminal justice. Students and teachers had the opportunity to dress up in garb representing their career of choice. Represented were athletes, doctors, chefs, cowgirls, construction workers, teachers, hairstylists, scientists and firefighters.

All insects brought into the Dauphin County Office must be dead and must be in a container, preferably with isopropyl alcohol, due to the bed bug problem. Fink Elementary School recently held its Career Day with the assistance of students from Dauphin County Technical School.

Heart Challenge Raises Funds Students at Londonderry Elementary School recently raised more than $8,800 in the Kids Heart Challenge, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

The students learned jump rope skills and how the human heart works. They raised money to help children with special hearts.

“Maker Fun Factory” Bible School Set Geyers United Methodist Church, 1605 S. Geyers Church Road, Middletown, will hold a Bible school on Sunday, June 23, through Thursday, June 27, from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Children and

youths from 3 years old through middle school are welcome to attend. The theme for the week is “Maker Fun Factory - Created by God and Built for a Purpose.” Participants will build rockets, volcanoes and a dirty sock launcher using common materials. Children will participate in hands-on activities in each of three stations - crafts/science, games, and story area.
