Brittany’s Hope will benefit from a bingo event on Sunday, May 19, at Londonderry Fire Hall, 2655 Foxianna Road, Middletown. Doors will open at noon, and the event will start at 1 p.m. Featured will be games, giveaway drawings, door prizes, homemade hot food, and baked goods. Tickets will be discounted when purchased in advance at www.brittanyshope. org/fundraiser/bingo or full price at the door. All proceeds will go directly to help orphaned children in Vietnam and Africa, including Kenya.

Rotary Club Donates Dictionaries To Students The Hershey Rotary Club donated dictionaries to all third-grade students in Middletown Area School District. Rotary

Club members Dr. Clemmie Gilpin, a retired Penn State Harrisburg professor, and Mike McCormick delivered the

dictionaries to each classroom at Fink, Kunkel and Reid elementaries on April 8 and 9.

The dictionaries are gifts to the students, not the district, for them to keep. See more photos on pg 4

PANCAKES AND SAUSAGE

Lower Swatara Lions Club will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, May 4, at the Lions building in Shopes Gardens, 2 Theodore Ave., Middletown. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The cost will be discounted for children ages 4 to 12, and children age 3 and under may eat for free.

Library Will Hold Book Sale

The Army Band played a concert for residents at Middletown Area High School on April 14. Some Middletown Area High School students also performed with the band. American Legion Post 594 provided a meal prior to the performance.

Middletown Public Library, 20 N. Catherine St., Middletown, has posted dates for its spring book sale. More than 25,000 items will be available, including new hardcover and paperback fiction, classics, children’s books, Young Adult books, nonfiction books, Christmas books, large-print books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles, and board games. Most books will be nominally priced and feature publication dates from the 1800s to the present. Most collections will be sorted by author. During a preview sale on Thursday,

will offer three camps this summer. During each two-week camp, students will sample many parts of a theatrical production through games, crafts, songs, and an introduction to theater basics. Students will produce an end-of-camp showcase. Students entering grades one through six are invited to attend. There is a cost per student.
