ST. PATRICK’S DANCE

Seven Sorrows Parish, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, will host its 27th annual St. Patrick’s Dance on Saturday, March 16, from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the musical group Class Act Featuring Rita. The Lower Swatara Township Historic Preservation Society will host a presentation by Mikaela Fleisher at its meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. The meeting will take place at Lower Swatara Township Firehouse, 1350 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown. Fleisher will talk about her Alleman family ancestors beginning with their immigration from Germany in 1753 and their lives in Lower Swatara Township. The presentation is free and open to the public. Evangelical United Methodist Church, 157 E. Water St., Middletown, will serve a baked ham dinner on Monday, March 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will include cheesy potatoes, carrots, applesauce, beverages, and dessert. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly),

Middletown Area High School (MAHS), 1155 N. Union St., Middletown, will present the musical Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14; Friday, March 15; and Saturday, March 16, in the high school auditorium. The musical, suitable for people of all ages, features songs such as “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Under the Sea.” Separate tickets prices have been set for adults and for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the high school from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, or Monday, March 11, or by contacting the MAHS Parents of Performers by visiting www.facebook.com/MAHSparents ofperformers. Police Department Receives Donation American Legion Post 594 commander Bill Douglass (right) presented a check for $1,170 to Sgt. Scott Yoder of the Middletown Police Department. The funds will be used to purchase new tourniquets and rigid cases for each officer’s vest carrier and duty belts.

National Guard Groups Win Awards All three Pennsylvania Air National Guard (PAANG) wings, part of Pennsylvania’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), earned 2018 United States Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards signifying them as exceptional performers. The award spans a two-year period of wing performance. All three wings have earned this award before, but this is the first time that the 111th Attack Wing in Horsham, the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Pittsburgh, and the 193rd Special Operations Wing in Middletown received the award the same year. Church Plans Annual Fish Fry Seven Sorrows Catholic Church will hold its 22nd annual Lenten fish fry in the cafeteria at Seven Sorrows School, 360 E. Water St., Middletown, on Fridays from March 8 through April 12. Doors will open at 3:15 p.m., with food service from 5 to 8 p.m. The menu will feature all-you-can-eat batterdipped fish for eat-in only, along with lemonpepper fish, crab cakes, jumbo fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, pierogies, and desserts, including chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and coconut cream pie.
