McKenna Spangler plays Annie and Melvin the dog plays Sandy in The Belmont Theatre’s production of “Annie.” Shows will take place on Nov. 16 to 18 and 23 to 25.

Annual Light Display To Return Nearly 600,000 Christmas lights will illuminate Rocky Ridge County Park, 3699 Deininger Road, York, during the 35th annual Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights. This year, the Parks Department will introduce a new online ticketing system to expedite the admission process and enhance the visitor experience. Christmas Magic is a half-mile, accessible walking trail that meanders along a wooded hilltop through nearly 600,000 Christmas lights, holiday scenes, and five enclosed, heated pavilions. The spirit of the holiday is featured via animation, displays, visits by Santa Claus, food, a G-gauge train display, and an Ogauge train display. Christmas Magic will run from Friday,

Nov. 23, through Monday, Dec. 31. The exhibit will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. Christmas Magic will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There is an admission cost. Admission will be free for children under age 4 and discounted for children ages 4 to 12, seniors age 60 and older, and groups. Admission to Christmas Magic on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays is by timed tickets only, which can be purchased at www.yorkcountyparks.org. Reservations will be required. Church Will Hold Celtic Service Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, will celebrate the upcoming holiday with a special Celtic Thanksgiving service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18. This will be the second consecutive year with a Celtic theme since Eastminster revived special worship services during Advent and Lent nearly 10 years ago. In addition to familiar Thanksgiving hymns, the service will feature music of

the British Isles, with a vocalist and an ensemble of violin, flute, cello, percussion and keyboard providing all music. Worship at 9 a.m. will also be a Celtic service featuring piano and electric keyboard. At both 9 and 11 a.m., Stephens Lytch will deliver the sermon. Watershed Steward Trainings Planned

Penn State Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for the fourth Master Watershed Steward Class in York County. An information session will take place on Monday, Nov. 19. Joel Persing, who is also The Belmont Theatre’s resident set builder, plays Mr. Bundles and other various characters. Joel’s son, Adam, plays Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as well as a policeman and various other characters. Adam’s daughter, Ella, plays an orphan. Additionally, Adam and Ella’s family dog, Melvin, a goldendoodle, plays Sandy. Peg Rhodes is training Melvin for the show. Rhodes has trained a variety of other dogs for Belmont shows, including “The Wizard of Oz,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” and “Frankenstein.” Free parking is available at The Belmont Theatre. The Belmont Theatre, 27 S. Belmont St., York, will present the family musical “Annie” on the MainStage at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, Nov. 16 and 23, and Saturdays, Nov. 17 and 24, as well as at 3 p.m. on Sundays, Nov. 18 and 25. An additional matinee will take place on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. Based on the comic strip by Harold Gray, “Annie” has won of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The book and score by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin features well-known hits such as “Tomorrow.” “Annie” is directed by The Belmont Theatre’s artistic director, Rene Staub. Vocal direction is by Lisa Pantano. The choreographer is Sarah Flynn. The cast features McKenna Spangler as Annie, Christopher Quigley as Daddy Warbucks, Nina Cline as Grace Farrell, Kendra Keiser as Miss Hannigan, Marisa Hoover as Lily, and Jeremy Slagle as Rooster.
