Nearly 75 years ago, Crickett’s grandfather C.W. Schwarz, purchased a registered Brahman bull and a small herd of cows from J.D. Hudgins
In high school Mike took a job with the historic Clifford Ranch and was promoted to ranch manager at just 17 years old, managing an elite herd of Red Brahmans
When Clifford Ranch dispersed in 1984, Mike and Crickett moved home to Mercedes. Together they established England Farms and Cattle in 1984 raising row crops and Brahman-influenced commercial cattle.
“WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH JUST ONE?”
The famous last words Benton said to Mike when he purchased LMC Polled Cricket 23/1 from Carlos Guerra in 2011
10+ years ago, the options for Polled cattle, especially females, were very limited. This led us to invest in a solid foundation of horned cows to breed to Polled bulls to produce our own.
Purchased +LMC +S Polled Madonna 274/1 in the 2013 International Brahman Sale, who would later achieve Register of Renown and eclipse sales of $500K.
The second generation, Carroll Lloyd Schwarz, seated on a tractor in front of the red barn that houses our show cattle today. In addition to raising cattle, the Schwarz family raised laying hens until 1973.
Mike and Crickett meet while working for the local sale barn and marry in 1982
In the early 2000s, our cattle program focused on raising F1s by breeding Hereford, Angus and Simmental bulls to commercial Brahman cows
Purchased LMC Polled Authority 115/0 in 2011. He would later produce two herd sires and countless foundation females for our herd.
From day one, our mission has been to produce cattle that are “Quality First, Polled Second.” The majority of the foundation females in our herd were purchased from the respected horned herds of D Bar Ranch, E3 Brahman Ranch and Sunnyside Ranch.
The first calf to wear the Bar E brand, and arguably one of the most influential females in our herd. Last year, at 12 years old, her naturalborn daughter sold halfinterest for $22K.
Hosted our first field day in 2013. Mike is a founding member of the RGVBA and Past President.
2017 was an incredible International Show for our family. We left Houston with 2 Res. Division wins and Mike was elected to serve as a Director for Area 4. 2025 will mark 8 years of service to ABBA
In 2020, just 7 years into active production, we hosted our first sale with straight ECC genetics. To date, the sale is the largest offering of Polled Brahman cattle in the USA and held in May.
In 2024, we harvested a PRIME grading 100% Brahman steer sired by a Caporal son, ECC Polled Rio King 104/8.
Youngest bull in the test to pass a fertility test at 14 months.
The bull that put us on the map globally. Sire of nearly 200 USA progeny with international progeny in Australia, Africa and Mexico. The first Polled Brahman bull in the world to collect for Sexed Female Semen.
Founded in 2015 to raise funds for scholarships and leadership camps for the youth of the Brahman breed. Mike is a founding member and Benton currently sits on the board.
Committed to performance, we are longtime participants in the RGVBA Bull Gain Test and ABBA Bull Gain Tests. You cannot improve what you do not measure.
(2022) +JCF Miss First Lady 100/1 - Dam of ECC Mr. Rio King 424; (2024) +LMC +S Polled Madonna 274/1 - “The Mother of Champions”
Shown by Kinsley Gandy, ECC Polled Midge 810/3 is double-bred ECC genetics
Proud to be part of the 1% of Brahman Breeders working toward whole herd DNA verification for parentage and horn/poll status
POLLED POWER CROSS
The England Cattle Co. “Polled Power Cross” is achieved by crossing proven herd sires and cow families with roots tracing back to our original, foundation bloodlines. To achieve this elite status, the animal itself, along with both their sire and dam, must be Polled.
FIVE-STAR POLLED
The animal, along with at least one Great Grandsire or Great Granddam on both sides of their pedigree are Polled or PolledScurred. To achieve ultimate 5-star status, the animal must check all of the boxes of the previous rating qualifications.
FOUR-STAR POLLED
The animal, along with at least one Grandsire or Granddam on both sides of their pedigree are Polled or Polled-Scurred.
THREE-STAR POLLED
The animal and both their sire and dam are Polled or Polled-Scurred.
TWO-STAR POLLED
The animal and either their sire or dam are Polled or Polled-Scurred.
ONE-STAR POLLED
Animal is the first Polled or PolledScurred progeny in it’s lineage.
THEY’RE POLLED & WE MEAN IT. BY ZOETIS
The ideal Brahman is scored in four categories: General Appearance, Body Conformation, Breed and Sex Characteristics, and Temperament. See pg. 5 for a diagram of the Ideal Brahman Bull.
An indicator of the natural demeanor of the bull and his progeny. Key factors of evaluation include: temperament, disposition and ability to work with ease.
Predicts how easily a sire’s calf will be born without assistance. This is mostly used to determine if a bull is safe to be mated with heifers.
An evaluation of the bulls carcass quality EPDs including Tenderness, Carcass Weight, Ribeye Area, Marbling and Fat Thickness. Added evaluations included from progeny processed through our farm-to-table beef program.
Calves get up and nurse without assistance. Daughters have great udders with four working quarters and small teats. Calves wean heavy.
The size of a calf at birth. Our ideal birth weight sits between 70-75 pounds. Sire’s actual birth weight is factored into this equation along with the avg. weight of his calves.
Welcome to England Cattle Co., where real-world performance power meets the industry demand for Polled American Brahman genetics.
With four generations, and nearly 100 years of South Texas ranching in our blood, we are committed to producing Brahman cattle that are functional, maternal and profitable assets to the beef industry.
We are proud to present to you the bulls behind our breeding program. Although each one is unique, and has their owns strengths, we pride ourselves on developing bulls that are the complete package combining eye-appeal and performance — the best of both worlds.
