Welcome to the England Cattle Co. “Brahmans on the Rio” Production Sale, where real-world performance power meets the industry demand for Polled American Brahman genetics. With four generations, and nearly 100 years of South Texas ranching in our blood, we are committed to producing Brahman cattle that are functional, maternal and profitable assets to the beef industry.

Saturday, May 18 will mark our fifth year to host a production sale at the ranch. In looking back at past sale catalogs, it is clear to see the quality of the offering improves year after year, and this set is by far our very best to date. But, that is how is should be! Every year, we make a conscious effort to identify the highs, and certainly the lows, of each calf crop. This allows us to evaluate and make the necessary adjustments to our breeding program to ensure we are always putting our best foot forward to advance the breed as a whole. In recent years, we have placed a great emphasis on fertility, and in 2024, we are recording our highest natural service calving rates to date. In addition to culling hard for fertility and mothering ability, we have identified our highest-performing carcass sires, slating their progeny for our farm-to-table Brahman Beef program. Earlier this year, we had our very first 100% purebred Brahman steer grade Prime, a feat that many in the beef industry believed could never be done.

The offering detailed in this catalog represents our commitment to the industry, and our passion for sharing our very best Polled American Brahman genetics. Of the 18 live cattle lots in the sale, only two were produced by embryo transfer. While we do see the benefit of using this technology to combine genetics that would be otherwise unobtainable, or to fast track a certain mating, we expect our cow herd base and natural service herd sires to perform at the highest level, producing foundation females and herd sire prospects with less input costs and real-world performance. The reality that 85% of our calf crop each year are born Polled is an added bonus.

As you flip through the pages of this catalog, you will notice that our Polled lots are identified by a 1-5 star rating, one star representing the animal is the first of it’s lineage to be Polled, and five stars representing Polled parentage can be traced back in their pedigree for four or more generations. Lots with the gold “Polled Power Cross” seal are a result of crossing proven herd sires and cow families with roots tracing back to our original, foundation bloodlines. To achieve this elite status, the animal itself, along with both their sire and dam, must be Polled. In addition, all lots in the sale are verified Polled (Homozygous, Heterozygous or Scurred), and backed by the Zoetis Horn/Poll test. We know each operation is unique, therefore, we included these markers to assist you in making the most educated decision to best suit your own breeding goals.

The sale is governed by Texas law. The terms and guarantees listed on this page shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller of each animal sold. Announcements from the auction box will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog and all other announcements made online or otherwise.

LIABILITIES

Everyone who attends the sale does so at their own risk. England Cattle Co. and the sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accident that may occur. Ownership of the animal transfers at the time of sale, and the buyer bears the risk of injury, disease or death. ECC or sale management accepts no liability for the animals after they are sold.

ONLINE BIDDING & LIVE BROADCAST

The sale will be broadcast live on Premier Livestock Auctions. Prior to the sale, you will be able to place bids on the offering that will then be applied to lots during the live sale. Pre-bidding will open at 7 AM CST on Friday, May 17 and will continue until 30 minutes before the LIVE sale broadcast begins. At 6 PM CST, the sale will switch to a live auction format. Bids placed during pre-bidding will serve as a starting point for the live sale. In order to participate in pre-bidding, and to bid online during the sale, you must create a free account with Premier Livestock Auctions. BIDDING

Each animal on which there are two or more bids will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any bidding disputes and his decision on such matters will be final. Prospective buyers must register in person at the sale office or online with Premier Livestock Auctions to receive a buyer number and other important information.

PAYMENT AND TRANSFER

All sales are final and payment is due immediately following the sale, upon receipt. All purchases will be settled for in U.S. funds by cash, check, or bank wire due upon receipt and before the animal leaves England Cattle Co. Buyer’s account must be paid in full before the animal leaves ECC. Unpaid accounts are billed 14% interest, beginning 14 days after the sale. Upon receipt of payment, ECC will transfer registration papers to the buyer. If full payment is not received within 14 days, then upon written or electronic notice to buyer, ECC shall retain ownership of animal with full property rights, including the ability to sell the animal to another buyer.

HEALTH

Every animal in the sale is, to the best of our knowledge, free from disease and sound. Health papers will be furnished for cattle selling out of state. Out of state buyers should make themselves aware of the health requirements for their respective states.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE

We are confident in our females and their ability to be longtime breeders. Open or exposed females are guaranteed to be a breeder. This, however, is not a lifetime insurance policy. This guarantee does not include injury, death, management, or feed or nutrition issues. Bred females will be considered breeders without further guarantee. Buyer has 30 days from the date of the sale to have an accredited veterinarian check pregnancy status of bred females. Breeding guarantee is voided if any of the following occur: injury, death, disease, natural disaster, gross negligence or misconduct, heifers not in suitable body condition to breed, or virgin heifers flushed or IVF’d prior to having a natural calf. Should a breeding concern arise, buyer is responsible to report the concern to England Cattle Co. as soon as possible. If an animal fails to breed, it may be returned to ECC in good condition. ECC reserves the right to try said animal for six months, and if it proves to be a breeder, return it at the buyer’s expense. If the animal proves to be a nonbreeder, an animal of comparable rank or credit toward the purchase of another animal will be offered. No cash refunds will be given.

LOT SPECIFIC TERMS

Lots 1-17: ECC reserves the right to one (1) flush or the split of two (2) flushes, minimum of six (6) embryos, on all heifers in the sale. Lots 6-7: ECC will retain half (1/2) interest in the female. Buyer will be purchasing half (1/2) interest (50% ownership and 50% possession). ECC will halter break and show the female for the duration of her show career, unless otherwise discussed after the sale. All show costs, including but not limited to, feed, registration fees and travel expenses will be split 50/50. Female will be registered as multiple-owned between both parties. Lot 18: ECC will retain half (1/2) interest in the bull. Buyer will be purchasing half (1/2) interest (50% ownership and 50% possession). Semen collected will be split 50/50, and all associated collection fees will be split 50/50 as well. Buyer will have the first opportunity to use the bull if they so choose. Bull will be registered as multiple-owned between both parties. Lots 19 & 23: Purchase price = 5x the bid. All semen sales are for in-herd AI and ET use, only. Semen sales are non-refundable and non-transferable. Upon calving, ECC will provide buyers with a maximum of five (5) certificates. Additional certificates may be purchased for $100 per certificate. Semen is stored at Brushy Creek Custom Sires. Semen will be released to buyer upon receipt of payment. Buyer is responsible for arranging pickup/shipping from the storage facility. Lots 20-22: Purchase price = 3x the bid. Selling a package of three (3) embryos with a guarantee of one (1) 60day pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryo technician. If no pregnancy is achieved from the first three (3) embryos, an additional embryo will be given.

TRANSPORTATION

It is the responsibility of the buyer to coordinate all pick up, shipping and transportation arrangements. We greatly appreciate our generous bidders and buyers, and offer free delivery for the first 100 miles from Mercedes. All cattle must be picked up from England Cattle Co. (ECC) within 30 days of the sale. Any cattle left at ECC after 30 days will be subject to a daily feeding and management charge of $15 per day, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Every year, much thought and consideration goes into selecting an elite female to feature in Lot 1, a title that is not easily obtained. The female headlining this year’s sale took social media by storm with just a 12 second video clip! “Boy did Chelsea cause an uproar in our house,” shortly after posting her highlight reel online, the messages started rolling in and she attracted more than 10,000 organic views online. The “Picture Perfect” female donning the coveted Lot 1 spot is ECC Polled Chelsea 814/3 (P). Striking in her appearance, this beautiful female is sired by our exciting young herd sire, ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (P). A bull who needs no introduction, Maverick’s superiority is recognized around the world with his semen interest selling to JRL Stud in Australia as a yearling, and later securing a partnership with B.R. Cutrer, Inc., one of the USA’s premier Brahman ranches. The dam to Chelsea is a cow that consistently knocks it out of the park, having produced foundation females for our herd, and a one of our feature consignments to the 2023 ABBA Performance Bull Test and Sale. ECC Ms. Rio Queen 411 (P) is a daughter of LMC Polled Authority 115/0 (P) and a Sunnyside Ranch cow that was in the first group of females that helped to build England Cattle Co. as we know it, today. ECC Polled Skipper 828/3(P) is the result of a proven mating, crossing Maverick over ECC LMC KPBR P Rouge 541 (P), a daughter of the Register of Renown dam, and one of the most popular and proven Polled Brahman Cows in history, +LMC +S Polled Madonna 274/1 (P). This mating also produced ECC Polled Good Lord Lorrie (P), a full sister, and one of the sale features from last year, selling to BG Brahmans.

We believe in this female because she has a world of proven genetics behind her! Her maternal granddam, Madonna, is best known as the dam of the 2016 Reserve International Champion, +LMC Polled Passion 55/4, as well as 44 more progeny who have a public sale average of more than $17,000. Skipper’s maternal grandsire, +Mr. V8 279/7, is the No. 1 most widely used Polled Brahman sire in the breed based on registrations.

Genetic excellence is one way to describe ECC Polled P.J. 813/3 (S). This extremely stylish, and ultra-feminine, female is the spitting image of her dam, ECC Polled Fancy 114/8 (S). If you have followed our program, you have heard us brag about Fancy being the best-uddered cow we have ever produced. One look at her in the flesh and it is clear to see that she is the definition of femininity! What do we mean? A well-respected breeder once told Benton, feminine females are the ones that cause you to snap your neck back for a double take. P.J. has been causing us to about wreck the truck looking back ever since she was a calf! On the top side of her pedigree, she is sired by ECC Polled Comandante 749 (S) who was shown successfully and is a full brother to LMC ECC LF Polled Lolo 127/4 (S), the proven donor and top seller of last year’s sale, selling for $28,000. The only Ice Man daughter to sell! ECC Polled Nikki 812/3 (P) is a beautiful, moderate framed, deep ribbed, and beefy female that comes in an ultra-stylish package. The sire to Nikki is the popular Mr. 4F Polled Ice Man 3/6 (P), who we own in partnership with our good friends at 4F Cattle Co. If you follow our sales, you know that Ice Man has been the sire to many of our show winners and high sellers. He is sired by LMC Polled Sambo 45/0 (P) and out of LMC LF Polled Elma 214/4 (S) who both rank in the Top 4 of the breed for registered Polled progeny. Recently, an Ice Man daughter demanded top dollar in AT Brahmans’ spring online heifer sale — the first Polled female to come from their program!

Nikki’s dam is a donor that we purchased from our friends at RB Cattle, who results from an exclusive semen package purchased on JDH Mr. Manso 281 and out of the most influential dam at Moreno Ranches, +Miss B-F 201/9 who has an astounding 133 progeny. Miss RB 931/5 “Azalea” is a proven producer for us, with ECC K-K Polled Pam Tillis 671/1 (P) shown by Kinsley Gandy, to her credit. On paper, she shines in Growth and Maternal Traits, charting positive for Calving Ease, Birth Weight, and Milk. Let’s dive into the unique genetic background that she offers. Her dam is a female that we and our friends at La Gaviota Cattle Co. hand selected and imported from Mexico. A female we would bet our entire program on! Yes, we are that serious about ECC Polled Samantha 880/4 (P). Initially, we were going to wait and release Samantha the week of the sale as a “Surprise Lot,” partially because Brooke was trying her best to convince Benton not to sell her. She was unsuccessful, but her loss is your gain! In our 13+ years of breeding Registered Brahman Cattle, never have we seen one who looks this good, this young. Look at her bone, depth of side, upheadedness and overall muscle shape — and she’s only a month old! This female just keeps getting better with age and we can’t wait for you to see her in the flesh.

Samantha combines the gentic powerhouse pedigree of ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (S) over ECC Sherri K Crickett 302 (S), the very first animal to wear the ECC brand. Sherri K was an intergral part of our show string and has proven to be one of the top donors on the ranch with 21 progeny to her credit, elevating her to being one of the Top 10 cows in the breed for registered Polled progeny. One of the most influential offspring by Sherri K is ECC Polled Rio King 104/8 (P), who has been used successfully by us and Jordan Grazing who purchased Australian exclusive rights last March. Based on her build and superior genetic background, we think Samantha should be a competitive show heifer and certainly a future donor prospect. We are seeking a progressive Brahman breeder to partner with on Samantha as we feel she is the “next great one” and will have a lasting impact on our breeding program.

Of all the visitors that we have welcomed to the ranch over the last month to look at the sale cattle, ECC LMC RR Polled Carrie 867/4 (P), is a definite favorite from the baby pen! This is no surprise, just look at the pigmentation, attractive outline, bone and overall totality of this female. However, do not mistake Carrie as just a pretty female. She is packed with performance, ranking in the Top 15% of the breed for Birth Weight and Marbling EPD’s while charting positive for Milk. You also have to appreciate Carrie’s genetic superiority combining some of the most proven genetics on the ranch. Her dam is ECC Miss Rio Queen 408, who produced a sale feature for us the past two years. Carrie’s maternal granddam is LMC Polled Cricket 23/1 (P), the cow who started it all for us here at ECC! The sire of Lot 8 is ECC Polled Comandante 749 (S), making this female a full sister to ECC LMC RR Polled Blue 657/1 (P) who was a favorite of our 2022 production sale, selling half-interest to Last Leg Ranch. Miranda and Skipper are out of full sisters that combine the proven pedigrees of +Mr. V8 279/7 (P) and +LMC +S Polled Madonna 274/1 (P).

To add even more excitement, this ultrafeminine, long, and level female is one of six ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (P) daughters we are offering in the sale. Being sired by Maverick, Miranda combines the two most proven cow families on the ranch — Madonna and Miss Double A 468/7. She also falls in line genetically with the popular show heifer, ECC Polled Barbie 784/2 (P), who is being shown by Tanna Trapp.

If you’ve started to notice a theme with the names of the babies in the sale, you are spot on! Out of the leading ladies from the series that features a group of New York bombshells navigating life, love and friendship, ECC Polled Charlotte 845/3 (S) comes by her name honestly as she is the sweetest of the bunch, just like her namesake in the show. Aside from her docile demeanor, Charlotte is a female that we like a lot due to her growth, bone, muscle, depth of rib and level design. Based on her phenotypic superiority, it would be expected that Charlotte should be a competitive show heifer. She is sired by ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (S) and, as you can see from his offspring in this sale, his calves are AMAZING! The dam to Polled Charlotte is a female that we purchased from Mexico who is backed by some of the most proven J.D. Hudgins, Inc. sires. Just like the other young show prospects selling, we will wean and prepare Charlotte for pick up and are happy to halter break her at the buyers request.

A totally different genetic offering than the other females in the sale! ECC Polled Natasha 844/3 (S) is out of LMC ECC Polled Lady 150/4 (P) who came from the same calf crop as LMC ECC Polled X-Factor 84/4 (P), both being sired by LMC Polled Future 17/1 (P). The genetic pedigree on this female can be traced back to the popular Miss V8 831/5, the 2002 International Champion owned by the Acevedo Family of Double A Ranch.

This is one that we hate to see go! One of the most winning females over the past two years to wear the ECC brand is undoubtably ECC LG Blanche 557/1, who was shown by Kinsley Gandy. ECC Polled Julep 805/3 (P) is Blanche’s first calf and was shown at her side during the end of her show career. For those that might not remember, Blanche is a daughter of ECC AX Polled Rio King 620 (P), our most performance-oriented bull, and out of a proven cow by the International Champion, JDH Clanton De Manso. You can learn more about Blanche on page 19 of this catalog. Born on Derby Day last year, Julep is sweet and strong, with a little sass. Just check out her lot video and you will see what we mean! Julep is sired by ECC Polled Chief 719 (P) one of our top herd sires that excels in Maternal Merit being out of the great genetics from D Bar Ranch and +Lazy J Miss Samantha, one of the most proven Polled cows in the breed. There is truly a female for every program in this sale! ECC Polled Salina 796/3 (P) is one of three open yearling heifers featured in the offering, and she has a pretty special story. This female is a daughter of Miss NBS Santa Reynera 119/1 who we acquired from our good friend, and longtime supporter, the late Mr. Beto Salinas. Her dam is a proven cow with six natural calves to her credit. Sadly, Mr. Salinas passed away shortly after our production sale last year and we know he would have loved to see a daughter from this great cow in the sale.

Miss NBS Santa Reynera 119/1 is by LMC Poll Aussie 297/3 (P) and out of a V8 cow that resulted from +Mr. V8 901/4, one of the most widely used sires globally, and a donor with 34 progeny. Salina is one of the most performanceprogressive females in the sale charting positive for Birth Weight, Milk, Ribeye Area and Marbling EPD’s, largely due to the influence of her sire, ECC AX Polled Rio King 620 (P). She sells open and will be ready to turn out with the sire of your choosing in the fall.

Stacie’s mom has got it going on! ECC 4F Polled Stacie 780/3 (P) is our pick of the replacement females as she is out of one of our favorite females to carry the ECC brand, the many-time champion, ECC 4F Polled Dora 359/9 (P). Study Dora’s pedigree and you will see that she combines Polled Pathfinder who is one of the most proven Polled sires in the world, due to the success of his offspring, and +S Donna 247 who was one of the first Polled cows we purchased for our breeding program, and used successfully, with 23 offspring to her credit.

Dora racked up many championship banners for Tanna Trapp including a Reserve Senior Division win in San Antonio and the first Brahman to win Supreme Champion Female in Willacy County in almost a decade.

Stacie is the oldest Maverick calf that we have at the ranch available for sale, honestly because she was in our keeper pen until Chris came and convinced us to put her in the sale! This heifer is hard to let go, and a must for anyone looking to fast track their Polled breeding goals.

Her dam, ECC K-K Polled Kylie 733 (S), was raised and shown by our friends The Sellman Family of K-K Cattle Co. A many-time show winner herself, Kylie produced the awardwinning, ECC K-K Polled Stormie 432/0 (P), with her first natural offspring as well as ECC K-K Polled Lori Darlin 636/1 (S), a previous sale feature that we now own in partnership with Last Leg Ranch. Kylie is the result of crossing the National Champion and Register of Renown Bull +JDH Mr. Manso 840 “The Graduate” with the No. 3 cow in the breed for Polled registrations, LMC LF Polled Elma 214/4 (P). Derby’s sire, ECC Polled William 352/9 (S) was the high selling bull two years ago in our sale, and is the result of a proven mating that also produced Lolo, Comandante, and the successful show heifer ECC Polled Lucie 358/9 (P) shown by Ryan Mack Simpson. To further enhance the value of Derby from a breeding standpoint, she charts positive for both valuable carcass traits of Marbling and Ribeye Area.

ECC POLLED MONROE 705/2 (P)

This one comes right off the show string! ECC Polled Monroe 705/2 (P) is a former show heifer that is selling bred 120 days to ECC Polled Chief 719 (P). As you might expect from a show heifer, Monroe is a heavy structured, high volume, long, level and super feminine female. She also has the absolute sweetest and lovable personality. Monroe is the only daughter selling by ECC El Caporal 301 (S) who holds the rank as the No. 5 sire in the breed for Polled registrations. If you have followed our past production sales, you know this is a rare offering as we usually have at least two or three females sired by Caporal up for grabs. Perhaps Monroe’s greatest value is her outcross pedigree to many of the Polled bloodlines currently available with her dam being from the JDH Forgason Division. STOP, you can’t miss this one! There is no question that the powerful build of ECC AX Polled Steely 704/2 (S) caught your eye! You must appreciate her heavy structure, deep rib, length, levelness and femininity. One of the things that many prospective buyers will find attractive is that Steely sells bred 90 days to, you guessed it, ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (P). If that’s not enough to get you excited, take a look at her pedigree! Steely is out of ECC Ms. Rio Queen 511 who is a donor for Benton and Brooke, and represents one of the strongest cow lines in our herd having produced three elite daughters that have been sold to progressive operations for foundation females or shown successfully. Steely’s dam is out of D Bar Miss 905/1, who is also the dam to our performance-oriented herd sire, ECC AX Polled Rio King 620. One glance at his pedigree and you see that Polled Ken is the result of a ¾ brother x ¾ sister mating doubling up on +LMC LF Ambassador and Miss Double A 468/7 genetic lines. He is the very first son of ECC Polled Maverick 302/9 (S) that we have offered for sale, and we are seeking a progressive Brahman breeder to partner with on a bull that we believe has a future as bright as his sire. Ken caught the attention of many cattlemen online for his impressive round muscle shape and attractive profile. You will have to watch his lot video for the full effect! Maverick’s story is one of a once-in-a-lifetime bull, and we are truly humbled to be part of his journey. He is a bull that we campaigned for three years, and is one of only two bulls that we have ever carried to Houston as a three-year-old, second only to Caporal who put us on the map internationally. As a late yearling, and even before his first offspring, JRL Stud of Australia selected Maverick as the sire that they wanted to influence their elite herd and purchased his exclusive semen rights. A year ago, one of the most progressive operations in the USA, B.R. Cutrer, Inc., purchased an interest in the bull, due to his superiority. The sire to this conventional embryo package is Bardia Ambassador, the 2017 Australian Sire of the Year. The dam to the resulting calf is Miss Double A 468/7, who is one of the most influential dams of our breeding program and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

This proven mating has created Maverick, a sale feature in last year’s sale, and ECC Polled Rio Queen 483/0 (P) who sold to Holley Cattle Company in 2021, was successfully shown by us until the conclusion of her show career and is now being flushed and used as a donor by the Holley Family. We simply cannot offer a better genetic package that should produce a superior calf with incredible marketability.
