We are delighted to welcome participating teams to our Junior Club Championships Finals weekend.
Our Junior Competitions Framework featuring tiered championships continues to be well received but we are always pleased to work with teams to modify and improve this. This year we have again run just one competition at Under 16 Tier 1 level with the 16 qualifying teams in the two finals having qualified via Zonal and Supra leagues. The Plate, Vase and Shield competitions have given further opportunities for teams who did not qualify for the Supra league stages. Having just one overall competition has reduced the number of games for teams and demands on players, which at this crucial age, helps balance study and sport commitments.
It is great to see many different teams, particularly in the Tier 2 competitions, qualifying for national finals and all eight Areas are represented here this weekend.
For the U18 teams, this may be the last time some players play for their club at junior level often before moving on for further education. We hope that you this is a fitting finale to that and that you will continue to play for a number of years to come.
Our thanks go to all the team officials who have dedicated a lot of time to the development of each team. We know that their commitment is very much appreciated by the players and parents. Thanks also go to the umpires, including a heartening number of young officials, and the tournament officials who give their time freely to run the tournaments in a structured and fair manner. All of you are part of the thousands of people in our sport who continue to help hockey move forwards.
You will see our Pro League matches advertised elsewhere in the programme. With tickets now on general sale, it would be great to see young players from this tournament looking to aspire and learn from the England squads and enjoying our excellent international event experience at Lee Valley in June. In addition the EHL Finals will be held here at Nottingham in three weeks’ time and tickets are on sale for this event too which promises to be an exciting finale to the domestic season.
The team at Nottingham Hockey Centre has always been at the forefront of developing hockey facilities. Working with their partners to create a venue with five pitches is an amazing achievement and is coupled with excellent on-event support. This allows us to host days such as today, bringing almost 1000 young people from 68 teams together this weekend to play our fantastic sport. We hope it is a memorable event for you all.

To reach the national finals, clubs first compete in one of eight Zonal Supra Leagues. The top three teams from each zone then progress to one of four National Supra Leagues. From there, the top two clubs in each league earn their place at the national finals – taking place right here this weekend. Below, you’ll find the playing records from the National Supra Leagues.
