our competences Design Engineering It is the engineers' task to realise the creative designers vision, but our CAD engineering team contributes so much more. Design innovation is routinely explored and developed during the development phases of the work and we fully test and analyse these opportunities as they arise. However the final output to manufacturing data is not the end of the story, we continue to support our clients through the tooling, sampling and product introduction phases with the same commitment and enthusiasm.
Automotive Specialisms Body structure and closures - we develop vehicle bodies in close collaboration with the client's product department and production engineering department. Geometry - we develop innovative concepts that meet all of the legal and packaging requirements. Exterior Trim - we design and develop entire systems as well as individual parts, alongside our customers and their suppliers for cars and motorcycles. Chassis - working with specialist partners to analyse and then fulfil the requirements of entire vehicles in terms of handling, ride and NVH. Power train - working with partners to provide power train designs for high performance, fuel efficient, low emission systems Interior Trim - we develop seats, instrument panels and climate systems for clients in the motorcycle, car, bus and truck industries.
Models and Prototypes Despite the value of computer-aided 3D modelling, real-life testing is still unbeatable for assessing a design and verifying that it will work. At Renfrew Group we have well-equipped modelling and prototyping workshops with full-axis milling machines and equipment for producing free-form designs using a variety of methods and materials. We also produce prove-out components like RIM, PU, plastic and composite parts, interior and exterior styling mock-ups and prototype builds of test vehicles and concept vehicles.
Manufacturing Engineering Of course at some stage the designs we develop must be manufactured. Renfrew Group carries out virtual simulations and analysis and suggests suitable layouts for the design of the work place and the methods of assembly. We can also co-ordinate the necessary investments in plant and advise our clients' technical introduction teams.
