Heritage-style properties are beautiful to look at and are many people’s aspirational property choice. However, as owners of these properties know, they’re also prone to being damp and draughty. This is generally due to one of the things that give them their charm: the windows. Rotten wood, single glazing and poor fit all lead to bigger problems. Providing modern alternatives to traditional timber windows is one of the areas we specialise in. As a niche fabricator we manufacture cost-effective specialist PVC-U windows that are perfect for heritage-style properties. And because we focus on manufacturing specialist products such as vertical sash windows and flush casement windows, we’re an expert in the sector and can bring more than just the product to your business. Our expertise in the field of heritage-style products mean that more and more fabricators, installers and commercial contractors are turning to us to meet their requirements. Our expertise in high-end ‘heritage’ fabrication is perfectly demonstrated in a recent refurbishment project where we manufactured 54 Spectus white vertical sliding windows
with through horn detailing, including 14 arched vertical sliders, for a prestigious refurbishment project at Foxhill House, Chester. Foxhill House is a substantial Italianate house originally built for the Archdeacon of Chester. It is set in 70 acres of Cheshire woodland, which incorporates an arboretum containing several species of rare plants and trees. In the 1960s Foxhill House became a diocesan retreat and conference centre and it will mark 50 years as Chester Diocesan Retreat House in July 2019. The new vertical sliders were chosen to replace ageing timber sliding sash windows, that were single glaze and not as thermally efficient as they could be. The decision was made to upgrade the windows, replacing them with architecturally sensitive doubleglazed versions. Our Spectus Vertical Slider was quickly identified as the window that would deliver the solution required. In this case, the windows were manufactured in white with run through horns to replicate the heritage aesthetics and enhance the building’s appearance.
