Toughened Glass Firman Glass manufactures a comprehensive range of toughened glass products under the industry recognised FirmaTuff banner, covering a multitude of end uses from architectural, through to retail and domestic. Manufactured to a maximum size of 2830mm wide x 4950mm long and up to 19mm thick in its monolithic form. The base product for toughened glass is annealed soda-lime silica glass. The raw material is subjected to a heat treatment process, which induces a compressive stress to the surfaces of the glass panel. This increase in compressive stress maximises the resistance to mechanical forces. Full technical support is available. Applications • Structural glass • Balustrading • Glass floors • Partitions • Canopies • Shower screens • Splashbacks • Glass doors • Stair Treads/stringers • Roof lights 5

Glass Bending Excellence Firman Glass new toughening plant includes two bending chambers which work alongside the standard flat bed The smaller chamber will bend glass from 5mm to 12mm thick to a maximum size of 2850mm x 1000mm bent and with the following minimum radii. 5mm, 6mm = 450mm 8mm, 10mm = 1000mm 12mm = 1200mm The large chamber will bend glass from 6mm to 19mm thick to a maximum size of 2850mm x 3600mm bent and with the following minimum radii. 6mm = 1500mm 8mm, 10mm = 1800mm 12mm, 15mm = 2000mm 19mm = 2500mm

Working in conjunction with the flat toughening facility to a maximum flat size of 2830mm wide x 4950mm long. Firman Glass can now offer the Architect, Designer and Contractor a complete service for multiple uses such as balustrades, partitions, shower screens, revolving door enclosures, full height barriers, partitions and shopfronts. Curved Glass can be processed as with flat glass and can be decorated by sandblasting and back painting. 7

Laminated Glass Firman Glass can manufacture toughened/laminated glass to a maximum size of 2830mm wide x 4950mm long for a multitude of end uses including structural glazing, glass floors and balustrading etc, with specifications including high strength interlayers and coloured/decorative and mesh interlays. Vanceva interlayers, laminated in between two pieces of glass offer all the safety benefits of laminated glass but using a palette of 16 colours can be combined in up to four layers to produce more than 3000 custom, transparent, translucent and opaque glass colours. Applications • SentryGlas® • Vanceva colours • DG41 Structural PVB • Solar control • Fabrics / mesh • Printed interlays • Curved on plan • Digitally printed • Structural glass • Balustrades • Glass floors • Anti slip glass 8

Firman Glass has over 35 years’ experience in the creation of decorative glass products using a wide variety of processes from traditional hand crafted to the most advanced laminating techniques, for commercial and domestic applications. Switchable glass can be used in partition screens, windows, roof-lights and doors, projection screens and security screens and in various glass constructions including toughened laminated sealed units Customizable in endless configurations, ranging from low iron glass to body tinted, curved, double glazed and shaped glass. Once activated the switchable glass turns transparent for as long as the transformer is running. When the electrical current stops, the electric smart glass instantly returns to an opaque state. Fabrics and Mesh – can be specified for our supply or supplied to us for incorporation into the glass lamination. A sample would always be priced for as depending on the fabric type there can be some movement during the laminating process.

Superior strength, lasting beauty As well as improved strength and stiffness, other benefits of SentryGlas® include: • Safety: In the event of breakage, glass fragments remain firmly bonded to the interlayer, reducing the chance for injury • Security: SentryGlas® can be used in glazing that withstands bullets, hurricane-force winds and even bomb blasts • Durability: SentryGlas® is extremely durable and resistant to clouding, even after years of exposure • Design Versatility: SentryGlas® can be used in glass manufactured flat or curved, including annealed, toughened, heat-strengthened, spandrel, wired, patterned and colour tinted glass • UV control: SentryGlas® is available with or without UV transmittance

The SentryGlas® interlayer is five times stronger and up to 100 times stiffer than conventional laminating materials. With this kind of strength the glass can be a more active structural element in the building envelope, opening up design possibilities that didn’t exist before. Besides its strength, SentryGlas® ionoplast interlayer retains its clarity – even after years of service. Unlike other interlayers, SentryGlas® ionoplast interlayer is much less vulnerable to moisture exposure or yellowing over time. Limitless possibilities Some of the many SentryGlas® interlayer applications include: • Minimally supported and open-edged railings, facades and canopies • Structural glass flooring, stairs, walkways and pedestrian bridges • Hurricane resistant windows, doors and skylights • Bomb blast resistant windows, doors and facades 10
