AutoCAD® / AutoCAD® LT Essentials DESCRIPTION This course covers the essentials for working with the AutoCAD software. The course starts by introducing a few basic tools that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing, and then continue to develop those tools. AutoCAD® Electrical Fundamentals DESCRIPTION AutoCAD Electrical is AutoCAD optimised for electrical controls design, it includes a specific set of features and additional commands specifically developed for the creation and modification of electrical control systems. The optimised operations and comprehensive symbol libraries help to increase productivity, reduce errors, and provide accurate information to manufacturing.

OBJECTIVES To teach students how to use many of the powerful electrical drawing creation tools in the software. Students create schematic drawings (ladder logic and point to point), panel drawings, and PLC-I/O circuits using automated commands for symbol insertion, component tagging, wire numbering, and drawing modification. In addition, students are introduced to methods of customising AutoCAD Electrical software symbols, circuits, and databases. Other topics covered include titleblock linking, reporting tools, templates, and project files.

PREREQUISITES Fundamental knowledge of the AutoCAD software and electrical terminology is a necessary prerequisite to attend the course in AutoCAD Electrical, plus an understanding of MS-Windows.

Autodesk® Inventor® Introduction to Solid Modelling DESCRIPTION This course teaches the new Inventor user how to approach parametric design using Autodesk Inventor.

OBJECTIVES To provide a hands-on and practice-intensive learning experience ensuring that students acquire the knowledge needed to design models from conceptual sketching, through to solid modelling, assembly design, and drawing production.

PREREQUISITES Inventor Introduction to Solid Modelling does not assume prior knowledge of any 3D modelling or CAD software, although a background in drafting of 3D parts is recommended, plus an understanding of MS-Windows.

Autodesk® Inventor® Sheet Metal Design DESCRIPTION This course introduces the concepts and techniques of sheet metal modelling with the Autodesk Inventor software. The structure of the course follows the typical stages of using Inventor.

OBJECTIVES To teach the student how to create sheet metal parts, edit them, generate flat patterns, and document the designs in drawings.

PREREQUISITES The topics presented in this training course assume prior knowledge of 3D solid part modelling using the Autodesk Inventor software. In addition, some background with designing and drafting 3D parts is recommended. Although it is not required, knowledge of sheet metal processing is helpful as students learn to use the sheet metal design tools, plus an understanding of MS-Windows.

Autodesk® Vault for Inventor® Users DESCRIPTION This course is intended for Autodesk Inventor users who need to access their design files from the Autodesk Vault software. It provides an introduction to the Autodesk Vault software and focuses on the Autodesk Vault’s features for managing files and projects with the Autodesk Inventor software from a user’s perspective.

Autodesk® Inventor® Advanced Part Modelling DESCRIPTION This course builds on the skills acquired on the Autodesk Inventor Introduction to Solid Modelling training by taking students to a higher level of productivity when designing part models in Inventor.

OBJECTIVES To teach students advanced part modelling techniques including multi-body design, advanced lofts, advanced sweeps, coils, and surface modelling. The course also covers features aimed at increasing efficiency: iFeatures for frequently needed design elements, iParts for similar designs, iLogic for automating designs, translation options for importing data, and the Engineer’s Notebook for communication.

Autodesk® Inventor® iLogic™ DESCRIPTION This course instructs students in how to use the iLogic functionality that exists in the Autodesk Inventor software. Students will acquire the knowledge needed to use iLogic to automate Autodesk Inventor designs.

OBJECTIVES Students will learn how iLogic functionality furthers the use of parameters in a model by adding an additional layer of intelligence. By setting criteria in the form of established rules, students learn to capture design intent, enabling them to automate the design workflow to meet various design scenarios in part, assembly, and drawing files.

PREREQUISITES The course assumes a mastery of Autodesk Inventor basics as taught in Autodesk Inventor Introduction to Solid Modelling. Autodesk Inventor Advanced Part and Assembly Modelling is also highly recommended, plus an understanding of MS-Windows.

Autodesk® Navisworks® Essentials DESCRIPTION This course teaches students workflows to combine 3D geometry from cross disciplines into one scene to enable effective model reviews.

OBJECTIVES Using the functionality of the Autodesk Navisworks Review, Simulate, and Manage features, students learn how to open, review, and run object-interference checks on 3D models. Students also learn how to link to task-scheduling files and create 4D construction simulations. Using the Animator and Scripter tools, students create interactive animations. OBJECTIVES By using the experience students gain in working with other 3D modelling software packages, this training course is developed so that new users in the Autodesk Inventor software can benefit from a shorter training course. Students are taught how to find and use the modelling tools associated with familiar modelling strategies that are used in other 3D CAD software.

Autodesk® Revit® BIM Management DESCRIPTION Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an approach to the entire building life cycle. Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Revit MEP, and Autodesk Revit Structure are powerful BIM programmes that support the ability to coordinate, update, and share design data with team members throughout the design, construction, and management phases of a building’s life. A key component in managing the BIM process is to establish a foundation for different types of projects by creating standard templates and custom elements.

OBJECTIVES To enable students to expand their knowledge in setting up office standards with templates that include annotation styles, preset views, sheets, and schedules, as well as creating custom element types and families.
