Polzeath Kick off the festive season in style, the Cornish way, with a visit to the Polzeath Christmas Festival 2016.

The ever-popular Polzeath Christmas Festival returns for 2016! The event, on Saturday 10th December, starts at 5pm with the children’s parade of decorated surfboards from the Tubestation down into the village, where the St Minver Silver Band will be playing Christmas carols. The village Christmas lights will be turned on after the parade, before heading to the Waterfront for music, mulled wine and mince pies.

Money raised on the night will

be donated to the Polzeath Surf Life Saving Club and Cornwall Hospice. Expect promotions and discounts throughout the day in participating stores and businesses – a great opportunity to indulge in some Christmas shopping!

The festival is kindly supported by local businesses and the St Minver Highlands and Lowlands Parish Councils. Children wishing to take part in the decorated surfboard parade should meet at the Tubestation at 4.45pm.

Part of a building that’s stood the test of time since being built in 1840, overlooking Porthleven’s archetypally Cornish harbourside, the Customs House Gallery, owned and run by John and Louise Winterton, has established a sterling reputation for exhibiting beautiful work from some of the finest local and locally-inspired artists.

Having moved down in the early ‘90s, John knew he’d never leave; and Louise, a proud Porthleven girl, knew that wherever her life took her, she’d always come back.

Having successfully built on this exceptional gallery’s reputation since taking it over at the end of 2012, they’re a credit to their own success. On entering the gallery, it’s plain to see that the pair share a passion for art. While modest
