The Editor Dear Readers, As we move into the month of November we wanted to do a check in.

The same way we might go to the doctor for a general check up, it’s important to do the same for the mind, body and spirit. This issue includes a few ways to help you evaluate and rebalance each of your 7 Chakras. Imagine your body as your house. If you only clean it every six months, the house will require an intense cleaning that will take quite a bit of time and probably feel overwhelming. If you choose to clean small sections of the house more regularly, it will help make it seem like less of a big deal. This month is intended to serve as a friendly reminder that keeping up with regular maintenance can make a big difference and that everything is energi.

By: Aria de Lima Born and raised in Dongguan City, part of the Pearl River Delta region in China, Judy (Ai Juan) Ye knew from a very early age that she wanted to pursue a path that allowed her to help others.

“When I was a girl, my body wasn’t very strong and I would get ill easily. I eventually decided to look into health professions. I thought maybe I could learn how to help myself and my family,” she said.

While living in China, Judy earned her nursing certification and worked as a paediatric nurse as well as in the hemodialysis department at the Dongguan People’s Hospital.

In 2012 the family made the decision to move to Canada, spending their first year in Prince Edward Island (PEI) where Judy spent her time working to learn English.

“I was a little nervous to move to Canada. I didn’t know anything about my future. We chose Canada due to wanting to give my son a high quality of education.”

After their first year, they made the move to Toronto, Ontario, allowing them to be closer to a good friend of her husband. It was around this time that she began to search for a job. She then got in touch with an old friend of hers who was an acupuncture and Chinese medicine practitioner and recommended she look into it.

“Before I learned about acupuncture I didn’t have any idea about what I wanted to do. At that time I was thinking of taking a program that would teach me to be a dental assistant or another program that would allow me to help people with disabilities. Then, when I learned about acupuncture and Chinese medicine I thought it would be better because I already had some of the background.”

Earlier in her life, Judy learned a lot about Chinese medicine through her upbringing.

Growing up, the people in her home town would often boil various herbs into soups to help with ailments and to help build their immune system. These practices are something that are commonly taught among Chinese culture regardless of the chosen career path.

After doing some research she decided to enrol in a program based in Markham. Judy would then spend three years, from 2014 to 2017, studying at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she graduated and obtained the professional certificate of “Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner of Ontario.”

“Oh it was so hard. It was very hard,” she said, laughing. People normally need two or three tries to pass the exam. I had some classmates that took three times to pass the exam. It was very difficult. Luckily I only took it one time and passed.”

Today, Judy has her very own acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic located in Oakville, Ontario. In addition to acupuncture she also offers cupping, breech baby turning, labour induction, bloodletting, moxibustion and custom herbal tea making. She is constantly looking for opportunities to further her knowledge through attending online courses as well as returning to China for a couple months of the year to attend lessons at Chinese institutes.

“Western medicine and Eastern medicine are different. Western medicine just looks and treats one part of the body but in Eastern medicine they are thinking about the entire body. They look at the physical and mental. They think about the two parts together. It is more holistic. That is why it is different from the Western medicine.

Making Your Home Your Grounding Space By: Anja Lavigne How to do this and why it’s important Your home is a part of you; it is where you sleep, eat, laugh, cry and so much more. The home environment reflects our self-worth and how we live our lives. When we are present and conscious we are aware and grounded. We have opportunities available to us and can help us manifest more easily. When feeling ungrounded, we can feel overwhelmed in our inner and outer world, and our space can feel out of sorts.

Being grounded means being connected with ourselves and our home and bringing ourselves into the present moment. Some ways to do this are:

Mindful sweeping We bring all sorts of energies in our home which then transmutes into our space. This can come from outside frequencies as well as from our thoughts and words spoken. All of this sits and stays stagnant in our rooms until we take action. When picking up a broom, there is a sudden connection as your hands hold the broom and sweep away physical and emotional gunk. The activity can be calming, relieving feelings of stress and overwhelm and immediately grounds the floor and you. Be present when sweeping and activate by saying a mantra. E.g. “May I be happy” or “May I feel peace” or one of my favourites, “We are happy, healthy and wealthy.” Brooms symbolize good luck and whisk away negativity and rebirth the room into a high vibrational state.

Meditating Meditation can provide calm, peace and balance. When you are feeling all out of sorts and anxiety ridden, your energy transmutes throughout your home, creating a chaotic feel. Daily meditation benefits both you and your space, releasing stress and centering the home. When you feel grounded your home does also and vice versa.

Simply begin by taking a seat, legs crossed if you can. Sitting on the floor immediately connects you and your room. Feel your breath and begin by taking some deep long breaths, placing your hand on your heart. Begin by feeling the love in you and then around you followed by the love all over the room you're in and then throughout your home. Give thanks to your space.

Note that a wandering mind is normal. Once aware, bring it back to the centre. Also be open to any messages your home might have for you.

Letter of Intention Writing is one key element to manifestation. This journaling practice can be a very high vibrational activity and a life changing practice to achieving results. Just by taking action with your hand holding the pen and beginning the writing process, the pathways from your brain to paper are energetically shifting and opening up to receive. Begin by titling your page with “The letter of intention for this space.” Be relaxed by maybe lighting a candle and sipping a cup of tea. Take a few breaths in and connect with yourself and your space. Then begin writing. When writing, have clear intentions. This keeps you grounded. Write in the present what your desire is for this space.

Be clear and use as many adjectives and adverbs. Even smile when writing. Be in the present and feel the emotion of what you are writing.

E.g. “I love how we are sitting together in this gorgeous dining room filled with love and laughter as we are enjoying each other’s company. There is such respect for allowing each other to take the time to share what is important in our life and we take turns sharing in our conversation. There is so much laughter, and we love eating delicious food that is so healthy and fulfilling.”

Clutter-Clearing Clutter is different from one person to another. What is in common is that it is no longer needed or loved. It could be that you have too many things, they’re broken, or you don’t have space for them. Keeping stuff that doesn’t serve you takes up physical and energetic space and is stagnant energy.

This plays a significant role in how we feel about our space. It can make us feel anxious and overwhelmed.

No need to book a whole day clearing clutter; this is an ongoing duty. Stop thinking of it as a tremendous chore, and start thinking about this being one of the most effective ways to connect with your items and your space. To keep it easy and simple, book a time once a week for maybe 40 minutes, put on a timer for 30 minutes and choose a section in your space. After the 30 minutes are up, tidy up, throw away what is garbage and what you choose to donate and put it in a bag to go out of the home right away or in the next couple of days. Once you begin this routine it will become much easier and you will find you spend less time looking for items and less money buying more stuff.

When it comes to taking action and will-power, we think in terms of two “places”: our brain and our heart. One is supposedly driven by logic and the other by emotion. There is, however, another spot in the body that holds more influence than we may realize. The Solar Plexus is a complex bundle of energetic nerves found near the stomach.

If you’ve ever felt that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach or the common flutters described as butterflies, those feelings emanate from the Solar Plexus. It’s easy to see why this part of the body is considered a power center of sorts. Those uncomfortable feelings in tandem with the emotions of anxiety, nervousness and fear can have an adverse effect on our actions or lack thereof. Over time many people have come to associate feeling this way with danger. It’s only natural to do whatever is necessary to avoid that feeling.

Luckily, the opposite is true as well. If we could find a way to pair better feeling emotions with the various physical sensations felt in the solar plexus, we could inspire ourselves to action.

This requires getting in touch with our subtle-body; the energy field surrounding and including our physical body.

We are most likely to notice how we feel when we are afraid or anxious. Take the time to create more awareness surrounding good feelings. How does your body feel when you have a good laugh or get a warm, loving hug from someone you care about?

What sensations do you feel when you accomplish something important?

In addition to the physical sensations, pay attention to the story that you are telling yourself during bouts of fear and anxiety.

You have the power to change that narrative in your mind. It may take some practice and some uncomfortable moments – but it’ll change your life.

People are quick to point out their negative triggers, but we have positive triggers as well. If we work at raising our awareness of positive feelings and emotions, we can connect with them much easier and, in turn, begin creating the life experience that we desire..

November Reading with Energi Empress Priya Card: Wish Upon A Star

This month the Editor asked for a reading pertaining to the heart chakra and we were led to the Wish Upon A Star card by the Guides.

The Guides are showing that the majority of people today are living their lives from their minds and bodies rather than from their hearts. They highlight the phrase “heart’s desire.” They are encouraging you to focus towards creating a life and life experience fuelled by your authentic “heart’s desire.” For some of you this will require some minor adjustments and tweaking, for some of you, a full life makeover may be necessary.

For some of you the message from the Guides is to honour what’s in your heart vs what is pleasing to someone else. They sense you living out of fear of upsetting another. Whether the fear is of upsetting them and losing them, or upsetting them and facing conflict, allowing yourself to live by what’s in your heart will set you and the other party free. This doesn’t necessarily mean a parting of the ways, but rather a freedom from a version of each of you that no longer serves you.

For some of you, the message is to introduce yourself to, or spend more time with your heart.

The Guides have observed you living life with a heart that is blocked off or overshadowed by superficial pleasure seeking by your mind or body. Wish from your heart, instead of your head.

They recommend closing your eyes, and asking your heart to show you a vision of your world from the eyes of your heart. You are encouraged to become familiar in and with that vision. The Guides see you being deceived currently by the illusions of your own mind and your body. They wish for you to elevate your life experience by experiencing life through the frequency of love, compassion, empathy, joy and purity that your heart emits and radiates.

The Guides encourage you to take time daily to physically stretch your arms out wide as you would when receiving a hug. Allow your chest to push forward, and visualize your heart opening up. You can accompany this vision with rhythmic breathing, seeing pink or green light entering your heart as you inhale, and seeing love enter the atmosphere once you exhale.

The Third Eye Chakra is the energy centre within us that is responsible for intuition, imagination, thought and selfawareness. It is about “seeing” beyond what is, and the name is fitting, as it’s what allows us to see beyond our physical, worldly distractions.

The Third Eye Chakra is located between our two physical eyes in the middle of our forehead and is represented by the colour indigo. It provides insight and wisdom into what truly is, what’s really going on within oneself and past the physical reality we live in. It allows us to see everything, including the big picture, and helps to shift our perspectives. It has the oversight and wisdom necessary to understand beyond time and space.

A balanced Third Eye also relates to one’s psychic and intuitive abilities. It provides inner guidance; a sixth sense or strong intuition.

This allows for one’s own instinct and inner voice to be trusted and relied upon.

A few things to implement for a balanced Third Eye are:

Meditation Yoga Being present Being open minded and exploring different perspectives and viewpoints Getting out into the sunlight Using crystals, essential oils and herbs associated with the Third Eye Exploring limiting core beliefs that aren’t serving you Practicing being faithful in new (and all) situations

Setting Intentions for the Future Sometimes we turn to fear or doubt when it comes to our future and/or the unknown. When we look to the short, but especially long term future from a point of newness or a situation we can’t “see” how it will play out, sometimes we are uneasy, nervous or fearful.

Knowing this, there are some steps we can take and some things to keep in mind to create some ease when navigating through these kinds of situations, as they will be inevitable as we move forward.

1. Make a list of your top priorities and what you are looking to be, have or achieve.

2. Select your biggest fear and “dissect” it from a logical perspective through educating yourself about it and/or investigating how likely it even is to happen. (It is not recommended to spend too much time on this one.)

3. Have a plan or back up plan if either your biggest fear comes true - how will you handle it and what is the solution? Or if the situation just doesn’t go as planned. This is your “worst case scenario” that you also don’t want to spend too much time on, but do have a “Plan B” so to speak, which softens any anxiety that may arise for you.

4. Envision and create your ideal situation playing out - who is involved? What is happening? What does it look and feel like?

5. Start taking steps towards the desired outcome. Remember, even a baby step is better than no step at all. For example, “When I get the job I want, I will buy clothes I like at X store”: Create an online account at that store and have a shopping cart with items you would like to purchase, leaving them in your cart.

IS YOUR CROWN BALANCED? By: Priya Ali Our crown chakra is the seventh chakra, known in Sanskrit as Sahasrara, which can be translated to a thousand petals and is symbolized as a lotus flower. It is located slightly above the head and is said to be the connection between your body, your mind and your spirit. When you see pictures or depictions of chakras, the crown is often shown to be white or deep purple, and sometimes shown as gold. When I am performing balancing or healing for clients, I normally see this energy in deep purple and from time to time it will show up white. What I first look for is to determine balance is the colour and whether it is moving or stagnant.

When dealing with chakras, the colour and vibrancy is important. A cloudy crown chakra can indicate a cloudy mind which can result in you being clouded in your judgement. A foggy crown chakra can indicate a foggy mind, which can lead one to experience trouble focusing during experiences and interactions, as well as with processing and retaining information. Both of these auric conditions can lead to difficulty connecting with or maintaining access to your spiritual being and intuitive guidance. A balanced crown chakra generally presents itself as clear, vibrant and bright in colour.

The other function I look for in a chakra is movement. A slow or non-moving chakra indicates a blocked chakra, which can represent a mind that is blocking something out, possibly due to emotional pain, trauma or other negative emotion.

It can create stuckness in our mind, procrastination, lethargy and depression to name a few. An overly fast moving chakra indicates an overactive mind, which can often be caused by avoidance, impatience and frustration. It can show up as overwhelm, insomnia, anxiety and being unable to sit still, relax or be present. A balanced crown chakra will move clockwise at a consistent pace. This allows us to be present and focused when needed but also able to be peacefully detached in silence when we choose.

Some other signs of an out of balance crown chakra are: Feeling isolated and, alone Lack of empathy or caring for others or your environments Materialism Excessive egotism Inability to experience compassion for others Difficulty connecting with others

There are ways to create more balance your crown chakra, some of which include: 7th chakra meditations (can be found online) Practice seeing life from multiple perspectives Raise your awareness to a world beyond the physical world Practice root chakra yoga poses Spend 3 to 5 minutes daily solely focused on your breath There is no right or wrong way to create balance in your crown chakra or any of your chakras for that matter, your journey will be unique to you.

The key is developing your own rituals and habits to access focus, and create ease and peace in your mind. We all need to adjust our crowns to keep them balanced.
