We are now living immersive digital lifestyles. Our places and spaces are becoming more connected than ever. And for policy makers and practitioners there is a challenge to ensure that we are positioned to shape future growth sustainably with this rapid transformation in mind.

What does best practice look like when it comes to urban growth, precinct development and renewal of our neighbourhoods when it comes to leveraging digital and data as an enabler for good?

WHAT IS DIGITAL URBANISM?

Digital urbanism is the practice of using digital and data innovation as an enabler for shaping productive cities, infrastructure, property, landscapes and places. It is founded on the basis that a range of imperatives (or non-negotiables) are already in place before implementing technology and data innovation - such as leadership, collaboration, sustainability and place.

WHAT IS A CHARTER?

For the purposes of this project, the Charter is a tool that defines best practice approaches to digital urbanism, and will include principles, metrics and performance requirements. The audience for the Charter will include government and non-government entities responsible for and/or investing in the development of land and in particular the shaping of built and natural infrastructure (grey, green and blue) and activities that evolve in the public realm.

The ENE.HUB team will work with its customers and suppliers to discuss their existing approaches to smart urban development, as well as identify what existing benchmarks and resources exist in the market place.

Through a series of co-creation sessions, benchmarks will be researched, drafted, reviewed, tested and refined.

Following the finalisation of the Charter, ENE.HUB will publish the resource and use it to shape its continued efforts, and that of it’s customers, in enhancing outcomes in precincts, neighbourhoods and towns across Australia and beyond.
