2022END-OF-YEAR REVIEW

When I founded Endo Black Incorporated, I could never have imagined all the lives that would be changed and impacted, the wonderful experiences it would bring, or the vital work we'd contribute to the community. I wanted to connect African American women with endometriosis and build long-lasting friendships. However, in time we slowly began building the organization's foundation by becoming incorporated and receiving 501(c)3 status, implementing strategic goals, cultivating targets that reinforce our mission and objectives, and effectively making collaborative efforts within the community.
The following pages will share in-depth details on our accomplishments and milestones for the 2022
Program Year. Our work is essential to those within and outside the endometriosis community. Endo Black, Inc. will continue to stand on the philosophy of engaging, educating, and encouraging endo sisters everywhere. I want each of you to know that in 2023 we are prepared to do what is necessary to combat health inequity, make resources available to youth and young adults, and implement fresh new ideas, all while still standing on the pillars of Changing the Narrative, Health Equity, and Racial Injustice, Women's Reproductive Health and Wellness, and Social Impact.
As we embark on year five, we understand that we still have much to do. Ensuring that Endo Black, Inc. continues providing advocacy and education through programming, events, resources, and services is critical. So we will. That is my commitment to Endo Black, Inc. and our commitment to you.
Lauren R. Kornegay Founder and Executive Director of Endo Black, Inc.Endo Black, Inc. is a black-womenled nonprofit organization advocating for African American women and women of color living with endometriosis.
Their philosophy is to engage, educate, and encourage endo sisters We anticipate connecting African American women and women of color living with endometriosis, providing the community with accurate, enriching, and valuable resources, and continuing the fight for health equity
Endo Black, Incorporated, located in Oxon Hill, MD, provides African American women and women of color with a safe space Endo Black, Incorporated has connected thousands of African American women and women of color
To create an atmosphere of support through a safe space
To create endo-sisterly love, genuine bonds, and friendships
To create opportunities for education on women’s reproductive health in the African American community
To create a dialogue around what policies, laws, and regulations need to be changed to meet the needs of women affected by endometriosis
African American women are constantly misdiagnosed, have limited resources, and have little research for African American women
Misdiagnosed: Being misdiagnosed is harmful because women can't get the proper care if they don't have the correct diagnoses If doctors cannot give an accurate diagnosis, it may weigh on the mental health of those affected Limited resources: There are limited resources provided to African American women, which can cause even more hardship for women leaving them to suffer in silence Once women are properly diagnosed, there should be resources on hand that will assist with the guidance of the patient Many women are diagnosed and left with no answers or knowing where to turn next Little research: Years of little research have caused medical professionals to believe that only "white women" can be diagnosed with endometriosis Little research leads to confusion for both medical professionals and patients Medical research must be expanded to be more inclusive to African American women and women of color More research will allow more data to get a precise diagnosis and proper resources for those living this endo journey

The newest workshop, African American and Endometriosis, under the Health Equity and Racial Injustice Target, is a 20-minute workshop eloquently but candidly goes over health equity, the exploitation of black bodies, the barriers of endometriosis outside of the medical field, and why representation matters. The workshop is offered to medical professionals, but it is open to sharing with any business, organization, or group interested in learning more about endometriosis and African Americans.
Term. The signature program exposes African American women affected by endometriosis, the endo community, and the communities in surrounding areas to the severities and many facets of endometriosis. Additionally, this will benefit the community by forming new relationships and engaging with the community members.
The ambassador program engages, educates, and encourages black women to amplify their voices.
Ambassadors are given the resources and tools needed to become confident endo advocates and to work through the organization to reach a wider audience.
Ambassadors either become Endo Black, Inc. volunteers long-term or are encouraged to create their businesses or platforms to advocate for endometriosis.
This year, Endo Black Ambassadors had the opportunity to submit ideas for the Momnibus 2.0 legislation, assist in recommending policies for this year's Endometriosis Working Group Recommendations, and participate in focus groups for Endo-Research Study, to name a few.

From the very beginning both my wife and myself felt so welcomed. The music was great and the food was very good as well. It meant so much to me and my family to be able to be part of such an amazing group of people to bring the muchneeded attention to her cause like the fight against endometriosis. I cannot thank Lauren enough for her hospitality and leader ship. Even though this was the first gala you would think they’ve been doing this for years because of how smoothly the entire process was.
