WITH SO MANY STYLES OF EARBUDS AND HEADPHONES ON THE MARKET, THE EDIFIER COMFO C/R1 OPEN-EAR CLIP ARE SOMETHING NEW TO ME. THE DESIGN, WHICH CLIPS ONTO YOUR EAR IN AN EAR CUFF KIND OF STYLE, IS DESIGNED FOR ALL-DAY COMFORT USING DIRECTIONAL ACOUSTIC TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER AN ENHANCED SOUND QUALITY.

The Comfo Open-Ear Clip Earbuds feature an ergonomic c-bridge design, which cups around your ear’s auricle. Whilst the design is meant to be compatible with multiple ear shapes, I did find the initial use a little fiddly to get them into a place that felt secure directed towards the ear canal. However, once you figure out the best placement for you, they are super lightweight and fit well, making them comfortable to wear all day. I like the design, and it makes them useful for use whilst on the go as you don’t have to worry about them falling out your ears, like some traditional earbuds on the market, thanks to the clip design.

One of the innovations of the Comfo Open-Ear Clip design is that each one uses directional technology, which helps to limit sound leakage and deliver an enhanced sound quality through a 12mm dynamic driver with titanium-coated composite diaphragms. This configuration helps to make the sound more resilient to deliver a pretty detailed sound quality all whilst helping you stay aware of the world around you. Plus, with each earbud being symmetrical, they can be used in either ear supported by

smart audio channel detection. This means that you never have to worry about making sure you put them in the right ears.

The earbuds deliver around 28 hours of battery life, with 7 hours of playback on a single charge, with a further 3 full charges stored in the charging case. With such a long battery life behind them, you never have to worry about running out of charge whilst out and about, and even if you do, they can quickly be charged with fast charging delivering 3 hours of charge in just 15 minutes. One of my favourite aspects is that the earbuds are designed to automatically pause your audio when you remove them from your ears, and restart it when you put them back in. Then, whilst audio is playing, each earbud has touch controls that allow you to answer and end calls, pause or play your music, and even skip tracks - all without having to get your device out of your pocket.

If you are on the hunt for a new style of earbuds that sit uniquely in your ear and deliver a good sound quality supported by multi-point connectivity, AI noise reduction for call sound quality, and innovative directional sound technology, then the Edifier Comfo C R1 Open-Ear Clip earbuds are a great choice.

I’VE LONG BEEN A BIG FAN OF WIRELESS EARBUD-STYLE HEADPHONES FOR THEIR CONVENIENCE, RELIABLE CONNECTIVITY AND HANDS-FREE USE – ESPECIALLY FOR CALLS. HOWEVER, AS NEW OPEN-EAR DESIGNS HAVE ENTERED THE MARKET IN RECENT YEARS, THEY’VE QUICKLY BECOME A FAVOURITE STYLE FOR ME, AS THEY HELP ME STAY AWARE OF THE WORLD AROUND ME, WHILST, STILL GETTING TO ENJOY MY FAVOURITE MUSIC AND PODCASTS DURING THE DAY. THE TOZO OPENBUDS HAVE BUILT ON THE DESIGN OF THE PREVIOUS OPENREAL MODEL AND DELIVER A SLEEKER AND MORE MINIMALIST OPEN-EAR DESIGN EARBUD OPTION WHERE COMFORT, ADJUSTABILITY AND HIGH-PERFORMANCE SOUND STAND OUT.

The TOZO OpenBuds come in a sleek black case, which is minimalist in design but has a secure closure - ideal for throwing in your bag to take your earbuds with you on the go. Inside the charging case, which holds up to 42 hours of battery life, are the two black OpenBuds. The OpenBuds feature an innovative open ear design, however, unlike many of the market, they have a unique dual-axis design which means that once you clip the buds over your ears you can adjust the earbuds both horizontally and vertically providing both a comfortable and personalised fit. I liked that I could adjust the headphones to the specific shape of my ears, as sometimes the open-ear design can sit a little weird if they’re very fixed in place. Once you have the best fit for your ears, they feel super comfortable and even for long listening sessions they don’t cause any pressure which could become uncomfortable after many hours of wear.

For the price, the TOZO OpenBuds are pretty good in terms of sound quality. The earbuds feature TOZO’s ORIGX 2.0 Acoustic Technology which delivers a great stereo sound listening experience supported by the earbuds’ 14.2mm dynamic drivers. The sound was high quality, and across both music and podcasts, they really performed well with a solid sound and strong base. However, should you want to adjust the sound a little depending on your personal audio tastes, you can easily adjust the EQ of the earbuds via the TOZO App. The App is super easy to navigate and allows you to have a little more control and personalisation over your listening experience. For me, the sound without adjusting was perfectly fine,

and the price makes them a great more budget-friendly option. Whilst, at £50 they aren’t going to match up to some of the more luxury price point open-ear buds on the market, for what they do and how much you pay I was impressed.

One of my favourite aspects of the OpenBuds is the open ear design as it means that you can use the earbuds whilst still remaining aware of your surroundings. I walk to work most mornings and like to listen to music but always want to remain aware of traffic and people for safety. I love that with the OpenBuds, I can listen to my favourite tracks, whilst still feeling safe and aware of potential hazards. Even in loud environments with lots of traffic, the sound was still super clear, and this is something TOZO have taken into consideration when using the earbuds for calls. For calls, the Open Buds have a built-in noise cancellation setting which helps to deliver clear call and voice quality for both ends of the call. This makes the earbuds perfect for taking calls on the go, ensuring that you can always hear the person on the other end of the call, and they can hear you!

Overall, I like the design and look of the TOZO OpenBuds. I like the adjustability of the earpieces to get a comfortable fit for long listening sessions, and with the over-ear hook, they feel super secure on your ears. For the price, they’re a great option if you’re interested in an open-ear design that delivers great sound quality whilst remaining comfortable enough to wear all day.

HIDIZ are known for premium sound, however, the MK12 Turris might just be its best yet. Straight from the box, you can’t help but be a little impressed with just how sleek and futuristic the in-ear monitor heads look. The MK12 Turris we tested out came in a lovely dark blue colourway, with a stylish waved design across each one. From the design alone, you can see how Jellyfish were the inspiration for the unit, and this is again reinforced by the lightweight feel. Each in-ear monitor is feather-light, and when connected with the included 3.5mm twisted cable the whole unit is remarkably lightweight and comfortable. In fact, the whole unit

actually weighs 93% less than traditional headphones, making it the perfect addition for taking with you on the go, as you never feel weighed down when using the monitors and instead can glide about – like jellyfish in the sea – with little to no fuss about the weight of the unit.

Each in-ear monitor is made from a CNC-machined aluminium alloy which helps achieve the lightweight yet balanced design. However, don’t let the lightweight design fool you, these headphones really do pack a punch when it comes to audio, and the ability to adjust your MK12 Turris to your specific needs. Within each IEM, HIDIZS has delivered the world’s first 12mm 91% pure magnesium diaphragms, which are designed to deliver superior sound quality, for a fraction of the price you’d be expecting to pay for higherend headphone models. HIDIZS have designed the MK12 Turris with magnetic circuits that enhance drive and accurate sound, supported by next-generation 1.5T magnetic flux density. This delivers a 119db dynamic range, ultra-low total harmonic distortion, and lightning-fast transient response.

The sound from the MK12 Turris really is impressive, and for music –whether rock or pop- they are really designed to bring both a deep bass and clear treble for a dynamic soundstage. However, the MK12 Turris doesn’t end there, in fact, the unit comes with three different pneumatic tuning filters and 9 pairs of ear tips that are tailored to make your sound perfect for you. The MK12 Turris we tested out came with the rose gold tuning filter already in the unit. The rose gold is designed for pop

and folk music, and using this I was impressed with how great some of my favourite pop tracks sound, as well as many of my favourite podcasts thanks to its balancing tuning.

The box also includes silver tuning filters designed for high frequency to deliver enhanced smoothness making them perfect for things like classical music, whilst the red tuning filters are designed for low frequencies making them ideal for music genres like rock or heavy metal. To pair with these filters, the box even comes with ear tips that are designed for vocal, balanced and bass enhancement. By putting together the best ear tips and tuning filters for the type of music you love to listen to you can completely customise your MK12 Turris to your music or audio preferences. For me, the rose gold tuner was great, and the ability to change the ear tips to enhance the sound further really made me feel like I could make the sound my own. Plus, MK12 Turris even comes with a little leather-look pouch where you can store all the pieces should you want to adjust your unit on the go. However, as all the tuning pieces and ear tips are small, I do worry about accidentally dropping them when on the go – so I’d recommend only changing your unit when you have a surface in front of you to avoid any accidental drops!

The MK12 Turris comes with a 3.5mm or 4.5 mm twisted cable, which can be plugged directly into your device, music player, DAC or dongle. The design of the cable makes it ideal for plugging

into many devices. However, should you have a phone or device that only supports a USB-C headphone port, then you can easily purchase the HIDIZS’ SD2 HiFi Type-C to 3.5MM Adapter Dongle DAC (or another adaptor of this type) to help make the MK12 Turris compatible with your device. We were thankfully sent one by HIDIZ along with the MK12 Turris and it was great for ensuring I could use the unit with my current phone which only has a USB-C port. The DAC Adapter was super useful, and if you’re thinking about purchasing the MK12 Turris but have a USB-C port device, I’d definitely recommend adding it to your basket to ensure its compatibility across all of your devices.

HODDOG CARD GAME

HODDOG IS A FAST-PACED CARD GAME WHERE THE GOAL IS TO CREATE THE LARGEST ‘HODDOG’ POSSIBLE. HOWEVER, THE DECK IS LITTERED WITH CARDS THAT ALLOW PLAYERS TO STEAL CARDS FROM ANOTHER PLAYER, SO HODDOG IS ABOUT DEPLOYING STRATEGY TO HELP YOURSELF SUCCEED, WHILST SABOTAGING OTHERS IN THE PROCESS.

To play the game, players are tasked with matching cards in their hands to help build the largest Hoddog they can, whilst utilising ketchup splat cards to steal cards from other players. With each turn, players aim to match sets of Hoddog cards based on the numbers at the top of each corner of the cards. Once players match the number of this type of card with the numbers in the corners they can add them to their Hoddog. Each player takes 3 cards during each turn, which can either be from the openly displayed cards, or from the hidden deck pile.

By placing matching cards, players can build the longest Hoddog possible. However, the strategy involves constructing your own Hoddog while simultaneously working to hinder other players by stealing cards that may aid you while sabotaging them in the long run. To achieve this, you need a ketchup splat card, which allows you to take a card from another player to either obstruct

them or benefit yourself. However, once the last ketchup splat is played, the game concludes, and the player with the longest Hoddog wins.

With such a simple premise, the game is a super fun and quick party game to play with small groups. I loved playing this with some friends to kick off a games night to help get everyone into the gaming mood before we moved on to a larger tabletop game. If you’re on the hunt for a quick game to play whether for a game’s night or even over a drink, Hoddog is a great choice.

SOSIG CARD GAME

SOSIG IS A FUN STRATEGY GAME WHERE THE GOAL IS THE MAKE THE TASTIEST ‘SOSIG’ POSSIBLE. BY COMPLETING ORDERS AND BUILDING SOSIGS, PLAYERS CAN ACHIEVE POINTS AND WIN THE GAME WITH THE HIGHEST-SCORING SOSIG THEY CAN. HOWEVER, PART OF THE FUN OF THE GAME IS THAT YOU CAN SABOTAGE YOUR FRIENDS IN THE PROCESS TO STOP THEM FROM SCORING MORE POINTS.

I love a strategy game - especially one that is quick, easy and fun to play. The set-up of the game can take a minute or two, as you need to separate and shuffle the 5 decks for Head, Body, Order, Award and Mystery Meat. However, once set up the game is super easy to play.

On each turn, players take a head or body from either the selection of face-up cards or the deck to place into their play area. Once in the player’s area, they can attach the cards to their Sosig to try and complete it and score points. All Sosigs must have two heads, or it will only be classed as a partial Sosing in the final scoring. The aim is to create the Sosig that meets the goal on the Order cards, which helps players score more points at the end of the game. However, with every turn, you are also working towards the overall award goal, such as the longest Sosig, so you also have to play strategically to try and score the most points

possible meeting both Order and overall Award goals.

However, some cards have Mystery Meat spinners on them, and, once completed, the player chooses a Mystery Meat card. These cards are designed to either help your gameplay or hinder the gameplay of someone else. However, I’ll leave the fun of these sabotage cards to be discovered when you play for the first time, as this was one of my favourite aspects of the game when I first played it.

When the Head or Body stack is empty it is the end of the game. Then comes the scoring where each Sosig’s points are totalled, with 1 point per Sosig card, with additional points for Spicy and Meaty cards. Should you have been caught out by Mystery Meat cards, some Sosigs could lose 2 points, as do those that are only particularly completed. Then you add on your order goals and award goals achievements. The player with the highest score at the end is the winner.

The overall game is very fun and I loved the randomness of the Mystery Meat cards. After a few games, we were all desperate to complete the Mystery Meat Spinners to sabotage another player. The game really brought out the competitive spirit across my friendship group and is already one that is frequently requested to play on game nights for the pure chaos and fun it brings. Overall, it’s a super fun game and it would make a great addition to any party game collection.

PROS:

- Pretty quick game that is easy to play once everything is set up

- With 9 award cards to choose from each game is slightly different in focus making every game feel unique

- Ideal travel-friendly size –perfect for taking with you on trips this summer

CONS:

- At first it can seem like there are a lot of rules and cards to get your head around - but it all makes a lot more sense once you start playing it and see how each is used

I like that the camera comes with an 8GB memory card built in, which means you can safely store all your pictures on the camera and then download them when you’re home at the end of the day. This helps to keep pictures to look back on and allows you to pick the specific ones you’d like to print. Plus, with the camera supporting video recording, it provides ample space to keep these recordings to look back on family days out at a later date.

Each of the frames and filters makes each picture a little more fun and lets your kid make each picture even more personalised. Plus, with a selfie lens on the front, kids can capture selfies with friends before customising them on the back of the

camera using the large 2.4-inch screen. Even in low lights, the camera is great, with an included flash to make taking photos no matter the light level easy. Overall, the camera is designed to help kids lean into their creativity and capture the world around them in a much easier way than a traditional digital camera. I love how easy the camera is to use, the included stickers to make the camera personalised, and the overall performance to save memories that kids will love looking back on for years to come.

EVERY YEAR WHEN PACKING FOR A TRIP, I’VE NOTICED MY TECHNOLOGY AND CABLE CASE CONTINUING TO GROW. EVERY SINGLE DEVICE SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT CHARGING CABLE, EVEN IF MOST ARE FINALLY STARTING TO SHIFT TOWARDS A MORE UNIVERSAL USB-C CHARGING OPTION. HOWEVER, WITHOUT GOING OUT AND BUYING ALL NEW DEVICES WHICH ALL HAVE USB-C CHARGING PORTS, MANY OF US ARE LEFT NEEDING MULTIPLE WIRES UNTIL THOSE UPGRADES ARE SLOWLY MADE. CONNEX NOTICED THIS GROWING CONCERN AND SO CREATED THE CONNEX ALL-IN-ONE CABLE ADAPTER HUB WHICH PROVIDES ALMOST EVERY CHARGING CONNECTION NEEDED TO CHARGE YOUR DEVICES IN A SINGLE FOLDED-IN UNIT. .

The Connex Adapter Hub came in a lovely green colour, with all the charging inputs and output cables tucked inside. The Adaptor Hub is like that of a multi-tool, and each of the charging connector arms can be folded out with ease. The connector features a USB-C and USB-A input, designed for maximum compatibility with most devices. Then for its outputs, the unit has a USB-C, Micro USB, and two lightening cables one at 4A and the other at 2A. The hub even includes a USB-A converter for additional compatibility. The USB-C output is also ideal for lightning charging and data transfer,

which is something often only seem in higher specification cables and so made a great addition to the Adaptor Hub.

I love the functionality of the unit, with almost every port you could need all located in one compact unit, which features a little loop at the top to attach it to your keys – ideal for using on the go. My only slight issue with the Connex Adapter Hub is that, unlike a traditional wired connection, you have to stay closer to the power source as the connection is only as long as the length of the Adaptor Hub. This short connection length makes it ideal for taking with you on the go but can make charging a little inconvenient when you have to keep your device super close to the power source.

In terms of charging, the Adaptor was super helpful and does cut down on the need for charging cables. In terms of charging speeds, the cable is not as fast as my traditional wired connections, but for charging in a pinch or whilst on the go it’s a great addition to your set up –and saves a ton of space when packing for a trip!

Straight out of the box, I loved the look of the HE69 Keyboard as the one we tested out came in a white colourway with purple accents. The overall look was super sleek, and when the south-facing RGB backlights under each key are turned on, the colours really glow against the white. I love that the lights can be customized to really bring the compact keyboard to life and make it fit your gaming set-up.

However, the customizability of the keyboard doesn’t end there; like with most Epomaker keyboards, the keys are hall effect switches, which can be hot-swapped so you can get your preferred user experience. However, I loved the hall switches it comes with, as they deliver an 8k polling rate via the wired connection, which makes response times quicker and the typing experience super tactile. In fact, to ensure you’re always getting the perfect

key, the keys have been developed with Simultaneous Opposite Key Detection (SOCD), which ensures that when two opposing keys are pressed at the same time, they keyboard will only register the intended key action to help you stay immersed in your games and achieving your missions.

Across the keyboard, there are 67 keys, making it 65% of the size of a traditional keyboard, with the typical function bar at the top and a number pad to the right removed. However, even with the reduced size, the keyboard remains super functional, and I didn’t find the missing keys impacted my dayto-day use of the keyboard that much. Instead, for gaming, the keyboard provided everything I could need and was a perfect addition to my gaming setup. The only thing I will note is that the keyboard is a wired connection keyboard, instead of having wireless options like with many other Epomaker keyboards. For a stationary gaming set-up, this wasn’t too much of an issue, and the included spring coil means that the wire is kept compact on the desk. However, if you’d prefer a non-wired connection, you may want to give this one a miss – but Epomaker have plenty of other gaming-focused wireless keyboards to choose from, so you are sure to find something to suit your needs.

Ultimately, the Epomaker HE68 is a great compact, space-saving but advanced keyboard that is sure to make your gaming experience top quality. From the RGB lights to the SOCD key detection, every aspect of the keyboard has been designed to enhance your gaming needs to help you focus on your game.

The keyboard we tested comes in an all black carbon fibre casing, with just the ESC and enter keys in a light blue. These match the lanyard attached to the left of the keyboard, making it super easy to carry with you and throw in a bag for typing, note taking, or gaming on the go. I like the smaller design; it’s definitely something unique that I haven’t seen in the keyboard market before.

Whilst its compact size is intriguing, the functionality and enhanced typing of the keyboard is just like that of many of Epomaker’s larger keyboards. Each key has DSA low-profile double-shot keycaps, which deliver a comfortable and tactile typing experience even in such a compact format. I personally don’t think I could use this full time as someone who types for work as the keyboard is very small, and adjusting to the smaller size does take a little getting used to. However, I will say the satisfying typing experience does make it more comfortable for longer typing sessions than other keyboards I’ve

tried, so for working whilst on the go or for use whilst at university where bringing a larger traditional keyboard might not be as functional, it’s a really great option.

Like most of Epomaker’s keyboards, the keyboard features south-facing RGB lights under each key, which deliver a fun and aesthetically pleasing appearance that looks great in any work or gaming set-up. Plus, each of the keys is GMK/VIA programmable, so you can customize the layout to suit your needs. This is especially perfect for this keyboard, as you can set up specific shortcuts to enhance your productivity and workflow even without the typical functions bar, number pad or arrow keys on the keyboard.

I think this keyboard would be the perfect choice for those needing a keyboard for working on the go, as the compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for attaching to your laptop bag via the lanyard for secure and easy transportation. The stand we got to test out came in a lovely silver colourway and is made from a premium aluminium alloy. The stand is larger than a typical phone stand, designed to comfortably sit either a tablet up to 12 inches in size or a phone on it. I especially love just how durable and sturdy the stand feels, as each section and rotatable pivot is firm and secure so you know your phone or table will be supported well during use. I love that the cradle has a silicone rubber buffer to help grip your device on the holder and to ensure there is no damage caused by the stand to your device either.

The design of the stand is super innovative, with cutouts on the base plate, back and phone cradle making it easy to connect your device to a charger without it getting in the way of the stand. The base holes also mean that the entire stand can be folded super compactly, with the phone cradle arms hooking through the base plate. This compact design is perfect for folding the stand down to take with you on the go. This makes it super convenient for travel or storage as it doesn’t take up much space in your bag,

and then you can use it wherever you are as a hands-free stand for your phone or tablet. This would be great for taking with you on holiday to convert your tablet into a screen for watching TV shows and films especially if your hotel room doesn’t have a TV. The Anywhere Adjustable Foldable Stand for Smartphones comes in a super small box, something I was surprised by wondering how the phone stand could possibly fit in such a slimline box. However, upon opening, I was impressed to find that the stand folds almost completely flat making it not much wider than a smartphone in width itself. This is possible as the design has been made with compatibility in mind, and so the phone cradle arms when folded down sit through holes in the base plate. This means that, unlike many phone stands, the phone cradle can be folded towards the back section, and then the whole thing can be folded down to the base plate, with the arms sitting between the innovatively designed holes on the base. This compact design is super great, as it means you could easily put the stand in your bag and take it with you on the go for easy video watching or taking hands-free calls no matter where you are.

Aside from the innovative design, the entire thing feels super study and the rotating joints are firm to provide a stable and reliable hold for your phone no matter the angle. I loved that I could move both the phone cradle joints and the base joints to get a more personalised angle whether for watching a video or for raising the phone for a video call. Plus, the phone cradle has silicone stoppers on the base, phone cradle arms and back to provide an extra bit of protection and grip for your phone when on the stand. I would have liked to see more silicone, especially on the back panel to cushion the back of my phone, but this isn’t super necessary and didn’t affect the functionality of the stand – just a personal preference.

I like how the base of the phone cradle and the back panel has cut outs so you can feed your wire through for easy charging. This is ideal as some phone stands cover the entire base of the phone which means that you can’t plug in your charger very easily – not ideal for when you are mid call and need to charge your phone! The holes also mean that your charging wire can be fed through from the back of the phone stand for added desk or nightstand organisation.

With up to 360° with full adjustability, the Anywhere Adjustable Foldable Stand for Smartphones is a great phone stand. It provides everything you could want from a phone stand to keep your phone accessible, but, unlike many phone stands, it can be folded almost completely flat using its innovative cutout hole design. Upon first opening the phone holder, I was pleased with the minimalist design in all black which is super sleek and seamless. The base and cradle feel super sturdy, and I liked the front lever clip to help suction the holder to the dashboard. Using the suction grip on the base, you just place the holder and push down the clip to create a firm seal. However, I would suggest giving the dashboard a clean first just to give the suction cup the best possible chance of staying attached. To attach the phone cradle to the base, you just remove the back ring by unscrewing it and placing it over the base attachment. You then clip this into the back of the phone cradle and then reattach the back ring which holds the base and cradle together. This is also how you can adjust the angle of the phone cradle, as you just unscrew the backing to give a little wiggle room, move to your desired angle and then secure the back ring again for a secure fit.

The overall useability of the phone stand was super straightforward. I like that you can manually tighten the back ring to help keep your phone secure whilst on the stand. In terms of the cradle, it is what you would expect from a phone holder. The arms on either side can quickly be released using the release button on the back, and you just need to place your phone in the cradle and press the arms in for a secure fit. I like that the arms and the base of the cradle feature silicone rubber pads for added protection to your phone and to give a more secure fit.

One of my favourite aspects is the quick-release button, as there’s nothing worse than trying to get out of your car fast (when you’re inevitably late to something) and fighting your phone holder to give you your phone. The button sits nicely on the back of the holder so you can just press and remove your phone without any hassle. Plus the button cradle support means that even when you do release your phone, it doesn’t just fall down.

My only slight complaint is that the arms’ max length was only a little wider than my phone’s width. Whilst I could just about close the arms, I do worry about it not being as secure. However, if you have a smaller phone like most iPhones, or don’t have a wider case like mine it should fit fine. I will also note that if you have a PopSocket or some other loop on the back of your phone it will prevent your phone from sitting flush to the back of the phone cradle, which again could also present issues when trying to attach your phone if you don’t want to remove them when you use the phone stand.

I’M A BIG KINDLE READER, AND I’VE SEEN A GROWING NUMBER OF PEOPLE USING ARM MOUNTS TO ATTACH THEIR KINDLE TO A TABLE OR THE SIDE OF THEIR BED, SO THEY CAN READ WITHOUT HOLDING THE DEVICE AND JUST USING A WIRELESS CLICKER. THEREFORE, WHEN I GOT TO TEST OUT THE FLEX ARM ARTICULATED MOUNT FROM DESIRE2 I KNEW EXACTLY HOW I WANTED TO PUT IT TO THE TEST. .

The Flex Arm Articulated is made from anodized aluminium giving it a great sturdy feel. The arm features 4 pivot points and a bottom rotation joint which are quite firm to ensure you can perfectly angle the arm in your needed position without the joints being too loose and moving during use. The articulated arm clips into the tablet cradle, with a securing loop behind it to help keep your tablet in place. The Flex Arm even comes with an allen key to allow you to securely lock the arm in one position, adding even

greater stability for your device. The overall construction of the Flex Arm felt super secure and premium.

To secure the arm to a surface you just use the base clamp which opens pretty wide. I tested the clamp on my desk, and it works perfectly, with plenty of room so I think the clamp would be ideal even for larger desks, nightstands

or even headboards which have a depth of up to 55mm. Once in place, the clamp can be tightened to the exact width you need, ensuring that you always get a firm grip. Plus the clamp even had a silicone rubber pad on one side, so you know that even on a shiny surface the clamp will closely firmly with good resistance from moving. Now the Flex Arm is designed for

tablets, and for this, it is super useful with a 640mm max expansion of the tablet grip holder. I especially like the added silicone rubber on the tablet holder for additional grip. To place your tablet in the holder you just push the arms open, and they automatically spring back in providing a secure and firm hold on your tablet. I will note that of the entire Flex Arm, the holder for your device doesn’t feel as a premium, being made from plastic, but this is likely to ensure they could include the spring mechanism without harming your device. I would have liked to have seen a more seamless look for the tablet holder with the arm itself.

The main reason I wanted to give the Flex Arm a go was to see how it would work for use with a Kindle. The Flex Arm’s device holder is a little too wide when outstretched to hold the Kindle around the middle like it would with a tablet. However, thanks to the complete flexibility of the arm you can instead move the arm to hold around the top and bottom of your Kindle to still make it work with it. This didn’t cause too much of an issue, and thanks to my case the grip didn’t press the power button on the bottom of my Kindle which could have cause issues if the arm turned my Kindle off when I went to use it! Once attached, I could then use my Kindle hands-free by attaching the arm to the desk and then using my own wireless clicker to turn the pages. Therefore, for use with a Kindle, which has been going viral online in recent

In terms of noise reduction, the Dream earplugs offer 27 decibels of noise reduction which turns snoring, outside traffic or a particularly loud neighbour into no more than a muffle. With 27 decibels of noise reduction, I found that usual traffic or my partner’s snoring didn’t wake me up as much, and instead softened the noise to help me get back to sleep easier. However, if you are particularly sensitive to noise disrupting your sleep, they do not block everything out so may not be ideal if you need complete noise cancellation. Having a sharp knife is an essential tool in the kitchen, but for many of us knowing how to sharpen a knife or what to use is a confusing and potentially dangerous job altogether. This is where the Tormek has our backs with the T-1 Florentine Vibrant Kitchen Knife Sharpener. The unit is the first premium kitchen knife sharpener for the home, and with its function much like the original, you are always sure to get a perfectly sharp knife with ease.

Straight out of the box I was surprised with just how large and sturdy the knife sharpener machine was, with a firm colourful striped handle attached to the silver metal unit. The

sturdy feeling makes it feel more solid and supported so you have even better control of your knife through the sharpening process. This is a nice change compared to simpler sharpeners or honing steels which can feel more complicated or flimsy, whilst only targeting the very edge of the knife.

So how do you sharpen your knife with the Tormek T-1 Florentine Vibrant Kitchen Knife Sharpener? The first step of the process is to set the unit’s

patented angle guide to the necessary angle. For many blades, a 17° angle is recommended on each side, but I found with a quick Google of my various knives I could find the recommended angle and set the machine to this. Once you’ve chosen your angle and adjusted the knife clip, you then switch on the machine and gently place the knife into the clip positioning the whole blade in with the clip by the base of the blade near the handle.

With slow and gentle pressure, you just press the knife down a little and gently guide the knife backwards and forwards against the diamond grinding wheel. With each pass-through, the fine-graded diamond sharpening wheel grinds against the blade producing burr. Burr is the rough edge that the sharpener produces along the knife as it takes very small part shavings off the blade. I loved that these shavings are captured by the inbuilt magnet, to help prevent excessive from the process. Once you’ve reached your desired sharpening, you turn the machine and repeat the same on the other side of the knife.

You then are ready to hone the blade for that perfect super-sharp knife edge. In a similar way to the sharpening wheel, you just have to go slow and steady, allowing the honing wheel with integrated polish agents to help define the sharp edge of the blade. This process is meant to polish off the burr and reveal a super sharp edge ready for cutting even the most difficult ingredients.

I found with a little practice the whole process is pretty easy to do, but if you’ve never used a sharpener of this type, it can take a little getting used. I did find it took a minute to find the perfect angle and the number of passes and pressure needed to sharper my knives efficiently. Plus, some of my more worn-out knives took a few more passes through as they were quite far off from their recommended angle. However, with a little patience, I was

able to return even some of my oldest knives into useful sharp tools ready for dinner prep - that I’d no longer fear cutting myself due to the blunt edge slipping!

Straight away I loved the look of the pan; the one we tested had a lovely light blue colourway on the exterior of the frying pan base, with an off-white/light grey interior and a gold-coloured handle. The pan is a great weight, not too heavy that it’s difficult to manoeuvre and not too lightweight that it feels a bit flimsy. I love the secure handle made from stainless steel which means you can put the whole frying pan in the oven to finish off cooking a piece of meat or fish without having to transfer it to another dish. For this reason, the pans are oven safe up to 200°C making it the perfect tool for any dish. Then, once you’ve made your favourite dish, cleaning is a breeze as they can be popped in the dishwasher. However, like most pans, handwashing is always recommended for ultimate condition protection, but I found the dishwasher was just fine.

To achieve such a high level of non-stick, the pan utilises PFAS-Free Thermolon Infinity Pro™ technology across the ceramic surface. This surface is designed to deliver outstanding cooking

performance. Plus with a 3-ply stainless steel and aluminium core, the pan provides quick and even heat distribution for maximum cooking efficiency. The non-stick coating is great, and I already know it’s going to be a staple pan in my kitchen.

If you’re on the hunt for a new pan, especially one that doesn’t have the traditional non-stick cookware which may have toxic chemicals, then the frying pans from GreenPan are a great choice. They feel sturdy, look great in the kitchen and are versatile for a whole range of meal-cooking needs. Plus if the 24cm frying pan, as we tested, isn’t the right size for you, the Padova range also includes a 20cm option, Alternatively, you can also buy a 2-piece frying pan set which includes both a 20cm and 28cm pan. One of the things I have to mention about the pans is that they are on the pricier side. The pans, depending on size, range from £45 to £110, making them a little more expensive than some other pans on the market. Whilst this price is for the top-quality design, and the PFASFree Thermolon Infinity Pro™ technology, it still is a little expensive for a single pan. Whilst the 2-pan set provides a good deal saving option at £170 for the 20 and 28-cm pans, GreenPans do require a slight investment. However, if you’re passionate about PFAS-free pans and so don’t want to use traditional non-stick pans, then the GreenPan pans are a great option and worth the price.

The sauce has a punchier flavour than your typical big-name brands, made with Mediterranean tomatoes and a subtle spice blend for a unique but delicious taste. The only complaint is that as the bottle only holds 290g, we went through the sauce pretty fast as avid sauce lovers! However, the smaller size gives a luxury feel to the sauce and is the perfect pairing for a bacon bap or burger, or as a delightful dip for your favourite fried beige foods.

The Fresh Chilli Jam and Strong Horseradish Cream give a powerful fiery kick. The chilli jam is absolutely perfect as a dip, but I found that putting it in some marinades or dressings added an addictive spicy yet sweet taste to every dish. Made from fresh chillies, it’s brilliant for taking a dish to the next level – especially

if you like a little spicy kick! Then, the horseradish balances the fire with a lovely creamy base, giving a balanced and delicious accompaniment to a roast beef dinner. I love a bit of horseradish with a slice of roast beef on a Sunday, and the Tracklements Strong Horseradish cream will now be a table staple for this. Finally, for charcuterie boards or taking your sandwich to the next level, the British Beer Mustard and Particularly British Piccalilli are big winners. The piccalilli is delectably tangy, and a little with cheese is a match made in heaven. Then, the British Beer Mustard has a unique and punchy flavour made with malty Wiltshire beer. This would be excellent with a nice sharp cheddar in a sandwich, or even for adding to a marinate for pork or beef for flavoursome taste every time.

The relish reminds me of a mango chutney, but with the delightful sweetness and tang of pineapple. The pineapple is then mixed with the chillies, a little ginger and mustard, with the sweetness of the pineapple helping to balance the spice. The final touch of a little cider vinegar gives the relish its delicious sharp and vinegary tang, which you’d expect from any good relish of this type. Together, the flavours all marry beautifully, creating a sweet, spicy and tangy relish that packs a punch flavour-wise. The Pineapple & Chilli relish is delicious thinly spread on a sandwich for a little kick, but my personal favourite was using it in marinades and sauces to give that spicy and sweet flavour. I’ve done similar things with mango chutney before to give a nice sweet yet balanced flavour, and the Pineapple & Chilli relish was perfect for this too. I could mix it through dressings, add it to marinates for chicken, pork or even fish, and was left with a delicious flavour. However, even with a bit of cheese, the relish was delightful and kind of addictive with the heat of chilli spice at the end. I can imagine this would be lovely on a burger or used on the BBQ to almost caramelise on the grill for a delicious sweet and spicy glaze.

We got to test out the Classic Design Chef Knife, which has an 8-inch blade made from high-carbon stainless steel, supported by an ergonomic Pakka handle. Straight away the knife feels premium and sturdy in your hand, whilst looking great with a wood-like finish handle. Over the years I’ve used some pretty cheap knives which can feel a little flimsy, but this is not the case with the Classic Chef Knife. Instead, the knife feels solid, and when used for chopping the knife cuts smoothly without any hassle. When used for dicing it was so quick and easy, and the super sharp edge meant there was no fighting with it to get it to cut through anything from a tomato to a potato.

I’ve been trying to introduce new dishes into my usual rotation for dinner each week, which has meant I’ve spent many hours cooking away and testing out new recipes. Many require

a variety of knife skills, and with the Classic Design Chef Knife from Imarku, I felt confident I could tackle a whole range of dishes as it provides a get allround knife that can work great across a variety of techniques. Then once you’re finished with the knife, you can easily wash it up by hand ready for your next meal – although be sure to be careful when washing as it is very sharp!

I will note that for a single knife almost $50 may be a little pricey for many budgets. However, having tested out plenty of knives in my life, sometimes I do think it is worth it to invest in a good knife to make chopping easier, rather than spending less on a knife that may not be durable and stable to cook with.
