THE DOGGIES ON THE CATWALK FOUNDATION and its philanthropic founder, E. Vincent Martinez of Fashionado, are once again set to present an unforgettable evening of fashion, cocktails, bites, and four-legged friends — all for a great cause.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, some of Atlanta’s most notable personalities and influencers will don the latest trends from SAKS Fifth Ave with loving pups in tow thanks to Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization which educates service dogs and connects them to children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs.

Past catwalk models have included Simply Buckhead's Joanne Hayes, Monica Kaufman Pearson, Q100’s Bert Weiss, Rob Marciano GMA, Tracye Hutchins of CBS Atlanta, Christine Pullara of “Atlanta & Co.,” Evelyn Mims of WXIA TV, Actress Sharon Conley, Actress Catherine Dyer, RHOA’s Cynthia Bailey, from the Falcons/ CNN Coy Wire & Brian Finneran and Cynthia & Molly from Lifetime's “Double Divas.”

VISION The vision of the Doggies on the Catwalk Foundation is two-fold. They are a 501(c)3 that provides financial assistance to non-profit organizations whose mission is to enhance the lives of individuals living with disabilities and other special needs, and to those organizations who provide safety and loving homes to animals in need. In addition to supporting non-profit organizations, the Doggies on the Catwalk Foundation is committed to providing educational assistance through the form of scholarships for college level fashion design students.

MISSION Through the use of the element of fashion, the Doggies on the Catwalk Foundation supports the efforts of those making a difference in the lives of individuals living with disabilities and animals in need. It is also our mission to facilitate the career advancement of college students in fashion design programs through the Fashionado SEAM Grant.

ENCORE ATLANTA: You and your husband Alex Page are always so stylishly dressed, yet you make it seem so effortless, and you both look incredibly comfortable in anything you wear. What are your top three fashion tips for men and for women?

E. VINCENT MARTINEZ: Confidence, fit, and stay away from trendy — good advice (we live by) and offer to men and women. Also, good shoes will elevate any look and take you far.

EA: Are you a predictor of trends?

EVM: When you consider that the looks presented by designers at fashion weeks are six months ahead and if you follow fashion, then yes, I suppose we’re all trend forecasters.

EA: As a growing number of fashion houses opt to use only plant-based and synthetic materials — no real fur, leather, feathers — what’s on the horizon for animal-friendly fashion?

EVM: Stella McCartney leads by example and has done so for more than two decades. Technology has paved the way for faux textiles to feel “real” and as the bigger names within the fashion world begin to adopt this approach we’ll see a mass acceptance and embracing of faux materials and sustainable fashion.

With that said, I’m not sure leather is going away anytime soon.

EA: Boxers or ... Bichons?

BENEFACTORS CANINE ASSISTANTS: Canine Assistants is dedicated to the education of service dogs and the people they assist, so that they may enhance and improve the lives of one another. We use Bond-Based Choice Teaching to create trusting relationships between people and animals. Our clients include those with mobility difficulties, and those who have medical concerns such as epilepsy, diabetes, and cancer. Our service dogs also work in hospitals and other care facilities, and in schools and other educational institutions. We do not charge for our services, but rather rely on the generosity of those who understand that aiding the well-being of one benefits us all.

FIX GEORGIA PETS: Georgia has a pet overpopulation crisis. Fix Georgia Pets works in the highest-need communities across the state to end pet overpopulation and stop senseless euthanasia. By focusing on reducing the pet population through spay/neuter programming, 12

Fix Georgia Pets reduces the number of pets that end up in shelters across the state.

Georgia cannot end overpopulation and stop senseless euthanasia without focusing efforts on spay/neuter programs in the highest risk communities.

PALS ATLANTA: It is the mission of Pets Are Loving Support, Inc. (PALS) to provide ongoing care and support to the pets of Atlanta area persons living with disabilities due to HIV/ AIDS, terminal illnesses, and the elderly.

With this help, pets and owners may remain together to share the healing power of love and companionship which flows from the humananimal bond.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION THE THEATER A fully restored 1929 “movie palace,” the Fox Theatre, with 4,665 seats, is a multipurpose facility, housing Broadway shows, ballets, comedies, concerts, movies and private corporate events.

PRIVATE EVENTS The Fox Theatre has three private rental spaces, accommodating 25 to 1,200 guests. Our Egyptian Ballroom and Grand Salon are beautifully decorated and can be set up to your specifications.

TICKET OFFICE The Fox Theatre Ticket Office is in the arcade entrance to the theater. It is open for walk-up ticket sales 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. It is not open on Sundays unless there is a performance. On event days, the Ticket Office opens two hours before show time. Doors to the Fox open one hour before show time. Tickets for all performances may be purchased online at www.foxtheatre.org, at all Ticket Alternative outlets and at all Atlanta-area Whole Foods Markets, by calling 855-285-8499 or visiting the Fox Theatre Ticket Office in person during regular box-office hours.

GROUP SALES The Fox Theatre Group Sales Department offers discounts to groups for most Broadway shows. It is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

FOX FUN FACTS The Fox Theatre Ballrooms The Egyptian Ballroom, Grand Salon, and Spanish Room were all originally Shriner meeting spaces.

Here are some other fun facts: • The Egyptian Ballroom was reserved for Shriner ceremonies and celebrations and the adjoining Grand Salon served as their library.

• The 7,500-square foot Egyptian Ballroom’s original floor is hard rock maple. A custom-designed carpet with Egyptian symbols of the afterlife and resurrection now protects the maple floor.

• Depicted on the Egyptian Ballroom’s balcony is a scarab, or dung beetle, which was the symbol for the sun god Ra, who was thought to ward off evil. It is surrounded by the wings of Osiris, god of the underworld, afterlife, and resurrection.

• Above the Egyptian Ballroom’s stage stretch the gilded and glazed wings of Osiris. A plaster intaglio panel of Ramses II subduing an enemy is the focal point of the stage.

• Although the symbols painted in the Egyptian Ballroom are actual hieroglyphics, when put together, they do not form any real phrases.

• In the 1970s, the walls of the Egyptian Ballroom were covered with several coats of paint obscuring the original stenciled designs. As years of paint were removed, vivid Egyptian symbols for life and rebirth were revealed.
