Mirna Salamanqués was born in Caracas on September 17, 1943. In 1962 he held his first solo exhibition at the "Pez Dorado" Circle in Plaza Morelos in Caracas, Venezuela. Mirna was born in the city of Caracas, daughter of Humberto Salamanqués and Carmen Escobar Ruíz. Very small at the age of 8 she was admitted to the Colegio de las Teresianas, where she received a Catholic education. She lived in Caracas until she was 16 years old, at that age she was sent to study in Jamaica, to a convent of English weeds. There she has a fervent desire to get herself a nun. But he decides to return to Venezuela. She studied at the Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Sabana Grande and at the Instituto Escuela de La Florida under the direction of María Victoria Alvarado and Olga Larralde. He graduated from the Liceo Alcazar, night school since he had to leave his home when he was very young and dedicate himself to work and study simultaneously. He had an adolescence with many mishaps because he had fallen in love very young with a controversial person and not accepted by his family. At age 20 he had his first son, Humberto and at 21 his daughter Verónica. At age 25, he divorced. He left for Paris with his two small children and his younger sister, Eruby. He spent 8 years in Paris where he studied Art at the School of Decorative Arts, granted a scholarship by the Inciba and by the French Government. She graduated with a degree in Art in the year of 1975. In the summers he stayed in Cadaqués on the Costa Brava where he met Salvador Dalí and his wife Gala. In 1977 he returned to Venezuela where he remained until the year 1984. He then left with his children to the city of Los Angeles, California.

In 1988 he returned to Venezuela where he settled and from where he moved to the whole world. Currently lives in El Limón Edo. Aragua where he has his Workshop and his Communications office.

ASSEMBLIES OF MIRNA SALAMANQUÉS BY GASTÓN DIEHL-PARIS. FIRST PART. Mirna Salamanqués governs with a particular authority her "Assemblies" in the midst of always new difficulties and directs them towards a fixed goal with a surprising dexterity and a faithful perseverance that oblige to admire it. He is ready to sacrifice everything for his art, a fact that he has already amply demonstrated, begins very early to feel an innate desire for creation. Barely account Mirna 18 years old when she made her first exhibition not far from the Plaza Morelos in the "Pez Dorado" Circle, in June 1962, exhibition which showed the result of his first self-taught experiences during two years: drawings, pastels, watercolors of a refined graphic design, meticulous, orderly, in which parallel grooves and complex intersections and especially plant themes and poetic effects approach the work of Paul Klee.

MIRNA SALAMANQUÉS BY GASTÓN DIEHL – PARIS. PART 2. On the occasion of his next exhibition in 1965 at the Institute of Art of the Faculty of Humanities and Education -ORGANISM THAT I BELIEVED IN 1952Mateo Manaure insists very correctly when he says: "An imagination rich in fantastic scenes, an unusual plastic and poetic invention". Later in October 1967, on the occasion of his great exhibition at the Polo & Bot Gallery, José Antonio Rial praised the inventive merits of his first "collages" of elements chosen among toys: rockets, plastic boxes, wheels, mirrors.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ARTISTIC LIFE OF MIRNA SALAMANQUÉS by Humberto Pérez. Mirna begins her first imaginary journeys to other worlds half a decade after the Russians enter the Space Age with the launch of Sputnik I and that the novel "Martian Chronicles" by Ray Bradbury, became a worldwide bestseller. At the beginning of 1961, Mirna used to spend long hours in the Botanical Garden of Caracas in communion with nature. In that communion she manages to contact a subtle energy that awakens her creativity and that leads her to capture in her first works the spectral aspect of nature, with watercolors, cakes and Chinese ink. Her vivacious restlessness impels her to venture into the mysteries of the origin of life with a plastic search centered on evoking the changing underwater world and vegetable. The magnetic colors chosen for the seabed are watery and discolored until they produce an enigmatic trnaslúcido medium where refined strokes of nib reveal the presence of very "sui generis" ways of life. From the most curious microscopic settlers to the strangest unicellular organisms interact at the vibrational level and move silently through the submarine space towards refuge areas demarcated by attractive transparencies and notorious changes of density and brightness. The meticulous graphics achieve dynamism and complexity when molecular masses of primordial energy tend to cluster in conglomerates of singular beauty. In this artistic awakening, Mirna manifests the principles of creation in the boundless ocean of the biosphere through innumerable structures, forms, places and times. This Universe of fascinating zoomorphic and phytomorphic forms is organized by the artist with the deliberate intention of revealing the different stages of spontaneous evolution in the field of creation.
