He also began his collaboration with the University City project of Carlos Raúl Villanueva, where, in addition to contributing 26 of his own works, he emerges as supervisor of the works of art. From there, he participates in other public projects, such as the polychromies of the Urbanización 23 de Enero. For several years now, Manaure was developing in abstract art, which formed the Venezuelan artistic vanguard of that time. Then, he returns to representative art from the graphic arts, especially lithography, but he does not abandon abstract expression. In 1984 he was named President of the Venezuelan Association of Plastic Artists. In 2009, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Mateo Manaure, was inaugurated in Maturín, Monagas State. The work of Mateo Manaure has gone through different stages. The first one, of representative tendency with classic subjects like the nude, the landscape and the still life, with a gestural character. Then, when going to Paris, his work evolves towards geometric abstraction and then becomes lyrical abstraction. In this way, Mateo Manaure worked alternately representation and abstraction. Among the series made by him we find Sobremontaje Paintings, The Soils of my Earth, Cuvisiones, Polychrome Columns, Look to America, Orinoquia, Offering to my race, among others. On the emblematic Libertador Avenue in Caracas, the large mural Uracoa (2012) 5 is displayed, which is a horizontal reproduction of two of the works of the same artist that covers the emergency staircase of the Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) building located in the city. capital. The mural Uracoa has been framed in the Vibra Caracas project, together with the Chromatic Modules of Juvenal Ravelo on Libertador Avenue. Both works are part of the series of urban art interventions developed in the Plaza Venezuela and the boulevard of Sabana Grande.
