• Was born in 1949 in Santa Bárbara del Zulia (Venezuela). • He started to study art in 1966 in the Plastic Art School of Santa Bárbara del Zulia (Venezuela). Three years later, in 1969 continued in Neptalí Rincón Art School from Maracaibo (Venezuela), and ten years later, he had crossed the Atlantic Ocean and studied in the Plastic Art School of Wroclaw (Poland) till 1981. • Has made more than twenty single exhibitions. The first one was in 1969 in the Caja Popular de Occidente Gallery (Maracaibo). In 1972 exhibited the Toulouse Lautrec Gallery (Maracaibo), in 1973 in the Viva México Gallery (Caracas), in 1974 in the Gaudí Gallery (Maracaibo), and abroad, in 1981 in the XX Gallery (Wroclaw, Poland), in 1986 in the XVIII BiennIal of Venice (Italy) and participated in some auctions in Christie´s y Sotheby´s from 1987 to 1992 (New York, USA) and in the Freites-Revilla Gallery from Boca Ratón (Florida, USA), in 1993. • It is impossible to mention every collective exposition of Ángel Peña, due to his participation in over one hundred of them with a huge number of his works, near to two art events per year, since he presented 6 vs Rosca in 1969. • la Región Zuliana, which travelled in 1992 around countries like France, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Monaco and USA. • Some remarkable examples are the III Young Artists National Exposition of Caracas in 1973 (Venezuela), the exposition Historia de la Pintura en Venezuela, in 1975 (La Habana, Cuba), the creation in 1977, of the Taller Telémaco of Maracaibo, the exhibition El Dibujo Nuevo en Venezuela (Caracas, Venezuela), the exposition Lo Real Maravilloso, tribute to Alejo Carpentier in the Art Museum of La Rinconada (1985, Caracas, Venezuela), the exposition in 1991 Artistas Latinoamericanos (Nagoya, Japón), and of course the itinerant exposition Artistas Venezolanos de la Región Zuliana, which travelled in 1992 around countries like France, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Monaco and USA. • Ángel Peña is an artist known in the world of art and critics, who has received many awards because of his work. In 1973 received the Acquisition Award in the III Young Artists National Exposition of Caracas (Venezuela), 1974 the Mention of Honor in the I Young Venezuelan Painting Exposition (Caracas, Venezuela), and in 1983 the Second Prize in the International Painting Contest from the Bicentenario del Libertador Simón Bolívar, in Corpoandes (Mérida, Venezuela), just for cite some.
